    Regarding the puzzles...

Am I the only one getting the feeling that we're being tested and/or trained for something larger?

Winner gets sent to Mars in a Dragon capsule to be trained by Mazer Rackham, and Elon Musk reveals he has an ansible in Hawthorne?

Read Ender's game or Last Starfighter.

I'm pretty sure the next software update will enable the ansible installed in every Model S.

Ender's was/is a great book. Won't spoil it here for those who have yet to read it.

I'll read Last Starfighter now upon your recommendation.

See the movie too. One of those 80s classics.

Another good puzzle/game related book for children of the 80s is Ernest Cline's "Ready Player One". It is a cool techno-thriller filled with lots of 80s pop culture references.

+1 for all the books mentioned: Ender's Game, Ready Player One, Last Starfighter (was that a book or just a movie?)

    Spoilers (kinda):
Ender's Game -- wunderkid gets trained by military to command an invasion fleet.
Ready Player One -- rich geek who essentially invents the source of entertainment for the 21st century leaves his fortune to whomever can solve his several riddles throughout the source of entertainment (think MMO on truly global scale).
Last Starfighter -- get really good at a video game, get drafted into the XYZ alien army where video game is real (I've only seen the movie, that I recall)

The puzzles has been interesting from the sidelines. The encryption methods have been educational.

For the record, I was referring to the movie on this one. Never even considered reading the book; might be good..no idea.

I read it, and my recollection is that it was just a fleshed out version based on the script. In contrast, Ender's Game is a real classic and one of my favorite books of all time.

Perhaps at this event they plan on revealing the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything!
