Here is a video by Fully Charged on the new Lightyear One, solar powered, super efficient car.

Motors are wheel-in-hub; battery pack size is 2/3rds that of a Model S; but minimum range should be 400km, maximum with solar should be up to 800km.

Solar capacity is 1.25kW peak for 10-12km per hour (sunny day) for an average in the Netherlands of 8,000 to 10,000extra free kilometres per year. Sunnier places will get more.

Charge socket appears to be CCS with the two large DC prongs.

It's from the Team Eindhoven that won the solar challenge in Darwin, Australia, beating out teams such as Honda.

I'm confident it will get into production, not in big numbers, but they will do it.

It doesn't matter how efficient it is if they can't be competitive on the price it's dead. Remember Beta vs VHS. How did that work out?

Nevertheless, big parts of their technologies are very interesting.

So, unless they attract billions in investments, their best bet is to find an OEM (car brand) prepared to use their technology and bring the vehicle concept into production??
