In a matter of years we'll begin to look on the current ICE as a "steampunk" technology...

If this doesn't make the case for efficiency, nothing will. ;)

    @ Teg, Exactly!

Another soon to be punked idea... the plastic engine cover. Why? To make something dirty and complex looking, look simple and clean.

This thread (plastic ICE covers) reminded me of some lyrics:

Another thing that will be happily eliminated is the LEAF faux motor cover.

SCW- I have that in my RAV!
The Lexus has it also!. hmmm what r they hiding in there?
grease? leaks? hmmm looks ok on the outside. what is under it that is leaking though? (disclaimer - my ICE toyota and Lexus have had zero problems...still loud and smelly and gas sucking SOBs)

but my fist thought seeing that cutaway ICE... so much crap going on! I think I could make an Ice design way better than that! (but probably not better than the Liquid cooled inductive drive w/out some serious # crunching and trial + error too)

That pic is of my Avalon's motor, but probably applies to the Camry and others.
    The Cadi has this.
