I didn't say anything about competition, of course it's good. Tesla in fact does have competition - no one has to buy one so your reference to a utility or ISP isn't valid. You can buy cars of various types anywhere. I spoke only to the online no haggle price.

You missed the point there; there's competition among brands, but also competition among dealers with the classic dealer model. With Tesla, you just have competition among brands, which is less competition overall for a better price.

I understand what you're saying but disagree that's a superior sales model. That competition of different dealers within the same brand still comes at a price and involves lot's of behind the scenes factors the consumer has no insight into. You may feel better when one dealer gives you a better deal than another but that doesn't mean you end up in a better position overall, and at the price of having to wade through all the crap (get down in the gutter, if you will) only to read on a message board the next day you missed an incentive you weren't aware of and feel cheated. To each his own, I'm glad to wash my hands of it....

Update to my buying experience. Yes, even though I had two delays (#1 Storm hitting Texas and #2 Graffiti artist tagging the train car carrier, over spray on my car), the car arrived on Tuesday. Even though it was late in evening, I did see a few multi-colored specks of paint on the black. I spent the last two days implementing the months all the things I watch on Youtube. Thank you all on this group for all the DIY mods you post about. I love how my MYLR turned out.

As much as I've read about the bad paint, bad customer service, etc., so far, for "me," it has been, overall a good experience. They will be coming out to correct the few specks of overspray I've found and install my garage opener.
