I was on the front end of Tesla starting to deliver cars and there were a few hiccups in the whole process. I felt a bit like there was no one that could definitively deal with the business related issues that frequently accompany $100K capital transactions. I did a little leg work and made my way to the SE Regional Sales Manager who really knew his stuff. Even with his level of competence, it was a royal PITA to do what should have been small issues easily addressed at the store manager level.

Fast forward five months and wow what a difference. Experience in delivering a bunch of cars has helped and it seems like Tesla management is starting to push some decision making capability closer to the store/customer level. This latest transaction was at least as complicated as my first buy in February and yet answers were there within hours and the whole thing was wrapped up in a professional manner in a day.

Now I need to get my wife's car on order and I am actually looking forward to the process.

I'm thrilled. MY Tesla is getting there and at a quick rate :)

For those of you involved in the whole goings on (and you know who you are), a very big thank you!

    Bill

You purchased a second model s?
Were you able to sell the first one, or have you decided to keep it?

I would also chime in that their online store seems to have improved quite a bit over the past couple of months. A few months ago I ordered some floor mats and the tire repair kit and it seemed like it was a very manual process with confirmations coming from people at Tesla emailing me and parts of my order never confirmed before delivery.

I just ordered a few more things from the online store last week and right after my ordered I received what seemed like an auto generated confirmation of my purchase and then shortly after that I received another automated email that said my order was being shipped and it contained the Fed Ex tracking number in it. Much, much improved!

My Silver baby found a new home in CA and the Red P85+ is on the way. Tesla was even kind enough to let me keep my order in place from last year (intended for my wife but then you snooze, you loose :) )

I've had the exact opposite lately. I am trying to finalize financing and delivery with Tesla and get nothing but voicemail when I call and no one responds to email either in their finance dept or my delivery specialist. The only way I can get any of them on the phone is to call the main number and ask them to walk over and make sure they pick up the phone.

Overall, I would say the process to finalize my order was great at the store, but dealing with corporate to figure out all the details has been less then good and I am glad it's almost over.

    ** EDIT **

Someone from Tesla reached out to me right after I made this post and had everything fixed for me within 30 minutes. Excited to get into my Tesla on Friday!

It is not perfect yet and I have heard similar complaints from others trying to work their way through the process. It was just my observation that things are progressing towards the experience Tesla wants all their customers to experience.

Congratulations on getting the P85+ ordered, I know that handling upgrade was something you were really looking forward to.

it does seem that many people are getting a good level of service from Tesla but there are still some bumps to smooth out. I was lucky, every mail I sent was answered in an hour or two and every phone call answered right away.

The best way to describe it for me is that, once I pulled the trigger, I felt like I had someone from the Tesla side pulling on the rope with me as opposed to against (the first car purchase).

Love the metaphor. It gets across the point well.

I have to say that they are doing a decent job, but lately (exactly since they had the issue with status on the My Tesla site) I'm getting a bit concerned.
I'm a car guy through and through, however once my status got messed up and went back to the beginning... Reserved, Confirmed.. and sat, I've found that I'm rapidly losing interest. I'm starting to ponder things like range anxiety, dealing with getting my service upgraded to accommodate charging overnight, etc. Not being dramatic, but I've been thinking that walking away from my deposit wouldn't be the worst thing in the world... Of course, I have caught myself, as I saw the progression (maybe depression) kicking in, but I'm sure I'm not alone...

I'm stuck at the point where I can't do much to move things along (I need a VIN to get insurance, financing in place, etc.) and I don't want to invest in my necessary electrical upgrades because at this point my jets have really cooled down... Strange what a webserver glitch can cause <g>

    Cosmacelf,
I wish..... Nope, I'm just dumb enough to go do it anyway.

Well, keep us informed on what you think of the P85+. When's the ETA?

4 weeks I suspect. I just got my production release to the floor confirmation with an end of June to mid-July delivery.

There is a standing offer once my car shows up to get together with any S or P85 owner for a comparison.
