I do think it's great that they offer this. Not for customers, but for potential buyers.
A lot of people who have never owned an EV has a mental block about: "I have to plug it in at night. I always forget to plug in my cellphone, so I'm going to forget to plug in the car".
Of course once you own the car you see it's not like that at all. Forgetting to plug in your car is much closer to forgetting to close your garage door, than forgetting to charge your phone. Once your car is at home, you don't continue to use it, unlike a phone.
However, it is a mental block prior to the sale. This product will help people overcome it. Tesla can point the people who think they'll forget to plug it in to this thing instead.
Of course 2 weeks into ownership 99.9% of people will see that they don't need it. But it's a good tool in the arsenal to help sell the car in the first place.
