Wait I’m confused. Why would you purchase FSD with your vehicle price when it pushes it into a higher tax bracket?

Pablo I actually didn’t purchase FSD at all . I was planning to buy it after I pick up my Model S LR. At the time of ordering (April 28 ‘22), and all the way up to day of confirmed pick up date (July 21) , the FSD was still priced at $10,600 cdn .
before May’s FSD 20% increase across the board . (The May FSD increase to my two other Teslas, M3 and MY , the app was showing $12,800 cdn For full FSD. )
Knowing that if I pickup the car with FSD pre installed, I would be paying on top a luxury tax (+9% on the FSD upgrade )
Everyone has to pay the inescapable luxury tax & provincial and federal tax (9+12%). On purchases over $125k cdn.
So July 21 comes up and I get my 2022 Model S LR at the purchase price of $131,600 cdn plus (21% tax) . the optional FSD now has increased to $12,800 on the app.
I thought if i could hold off on preinstalled FSD, I could avoid the car luxury tax 9% on the $10,600 . So my thinking was to save $954 luxury tax on the FSD if installed after delivery . New price for FSD , after delivery is now stands @ $12,800. On all three cars .$ 10,600 price for FSD has evaporated from the S. Can’t win , was try to save $954 and now will have to pay $2200 more for FSD.

( side note : Sept 1 2022 , all vehicles and boats in Canada with purchase price over $100k , will get hit with a revised rate of 20% Luxury tax, and your 7% provincial & 5% federal
For a fat total of 32% tax )
I guess I’m luck that my Model S LR came before Sept 1 -saved me 11% on the whole purchase price

Ah I see what you’re saying now.

Yeaup I’m happy I was able to take delivery of my car 2 weeks ago under the 125k provincial lux tax threshold and before the Sept 1 federal tax.

RN1163 here, ordered 1/18/22. MS LR Midnight silver, white interior, 21” wheels no FSD. EDD window was July 11-31 just went to July 31 - Sep 4

Just got my VIN! EDD changed to Aug 3 - Aug 22 a few days ago. Got the text for the VIN earlier today

This is speculative, but may be worth calling Tesla.
If you change your order prior to delivery, your changes are at the original prices (e.g. when I upgraded from LR to Plaid I paid the Plaid price from when I ordered, not the current pricing). So that may also apply to FSD.
If not, you will definitely pay the current price if you purchase through the app or after delivery.
