Thoughts on tax incentives

Does anyone know if the 200k tax incentive mark is for each brand of vehicle (chevy, GM, Cadillac) or for each parent company (GM, Ford, VW)?

Why I think this is interesting is if a parent company has 200k for each brand then it may be wise for Tesla to create a new brand for its affordable car line up so more Tax incentives can be taken advantage of.

If the government saw this as a shady move and changed the program to be 200k per parent company then that would still benefit Tesla as all the other companies would have far fewer tax incentive lowered cars.

Seems like it would be a win win.

The federal tax credit is per manufacturer, period. GM is one manufacturer, as is Tesla.

It makes no difference if GM resurrects the LaSalle as a full battery-electric vehicle or not. They won't get an additional 200,000 units for their customers to receive the full $7,500 credit.
