"Shipped by train"
yeah why? Could go by carrier and encounter a hailstorm along the way or get into an accident (both of which I've read happened). Train might get it there faster with less chance for incident. ...now not trying to make your wait any more stressful LOL. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Honestly, for the reasons SMAlset mentioned, I'd be happy with train vs other methods. And it is reducing the overall cost of shipping to Tesla so kudos!
+/- 3 weeks or more for delivery
Could be a lot worse. Our first Tesla was on a car carrier that flipped in an ice storm in Nebraska along with eight others. Had to re-order a new one to be built.
My second Tesla was shipped by train, and after I stopped crying...it showed up earlier than I expected. Here's to hoping the same for yours!
If you've seen any of the horror photo posts of Teslas destroyed or damaged during open truck transport, you might feel differently.
Now, most cars make it to their destination delivery center ok, but open carrier transport does increase the chances of damage.
What would be worst is to be told your car met this sort of fate:
Toyota Models on Flatbed Truck Crunched Under New York Bridge - This Won't Buff Out...
Tesla delivery truck with Model Xs narrowly misses getting stuck underneath a railway bridge
Or even worse, your car was destroyed in transit and someone is dead:

Please. Many, many Teslas are sent by rail to a major distribution center, like Chicago, and then put on a truck to the ultimate destination. So, it experienced both. Mine did. I pick it up tomorrow.
Thanks all, I'm super pumped to take delivery of my car... but another week or two won't kill me (I think?).
I hate to break it to you but a large portion Teslas are shipped via train. All of the Teslas heading for the southeast get off a train at a shipping facility here in Birmingham, AL. They are then trucked to their destination. Think I'm lying:

I find it funny that Tesla isn't allowed to sell vehicles in AL but a lot of their vehicles get off a train here.
Was I the only one here thinking he was sweating train transport because of rail dust?
Better clay bar and decontaminate as soon as you get it!
I would be SO happy to hear those words (not just because I would getting shipped a Tesla). Glad Tesla is shipping by reasonable means.
Thank you kindly.
