Throttled X

I have a 2016 model X bought with 8000 mile, current 15k miles. Always charged at home. Recently went to Sedona had to charge 5 times, up and back. told by tesla all was good with batteries and charging, “you used bad chargers”. So I took a trip to Salt lake and filmed along the way, changed chargers, conditioned batteries, drove at recommendEd speed. It was a nightmare. A 10-11 hour drive took 17 hours. Here is link
Anyone else having this problem?

Were any of your stops at the new v3 stations?

The older stations have serious slowdowns when they heat up, driven I think by the temperature limit at the plug, so charging in the desert in the heat of day was often pretty painful. The liquid cooled v3 stations shouldn’t have that problem.

The fact the you were getting good charge rates first thing in the morning when everything is still cool suggests this is your problem - and cars that have been throttled by firmware never hit the higher charge numbers under any conditions. (The cases I’ve read of are all the older 85/60 cars with the original pack chemistry. No X has those packs.)

To be clear: I voted I’ve had similar problems because I’ve seen all the stalls at a site in the desert refuse to go above 35 kW in the summer sun for a couple sites in a row.

Neither of my Xs has a firmware throttle limit beyond what they had initially, and both charge much faster at cooler sites (and I’m hopeful that v3 sites in the desert won’t be slowed, but I haven’t charged at one yet.)
