So the new Car and Driver arrived in my mailbox today and it had, as expected, the final report on their 40,000 mile test of a P85D. The thing that jumped out at me was the data on performance at 40k miles versus new. They did 3.3 seconds 0-60 and 11.8 1/4 miles when new, which fell to 3.7/12.3 seconds at 40k miles.
In the last year I've wondered why I've felt underwhelmed by the acceleration in my P85D and this certainly could explain it.. 3.7 seconds is still quick, but it's a noticeable difference from 3.3. Whether it's launch mode limitations or something else, I have no idea. All I know is that the thrill is gone, and C/D noticed the same thing and quantified it.
