Tipping hotel valets in Ontario and Quebec

New to owing a car and tipping valets.. I found answers for tipping valets online, but it's mostly in the US. What is the minimum acceptable tip amount for hotel valets in Ontario and Quebec considering the valet fee is $25 ~ 45 per night. Also, do you tip before, after or both?

It's hard to believe that when you pay someone $24 -$45, that you have to tip them even more.

Generally, I find a buck or two when retrieving the car.
