So, you plugged from the outside, not a plug/patch from the inside?
Any idea if the hole was under the sound deadening foam belt?

Dude you are overthinking things. I currently have five holes plugged (in 4 tires) with the standard issue dollar store patch kit:

A 'real tire shop' might not 'warranty' that patch but if you live in the real world, spend the $5 and 7 minutes to patch it and go on to worrying about battery degradation or something.

Had a nail in the same location. Good job patching that on your own. We rent the Y and didn't want any client to test the theory. Picked up two of the Comp 4 S. Had a hard time locating the stock tire myself.
