My DS said tires should be rotated every 5-6,000 miles due to the weight of the vehicle. The rear tires are wider than the fronts (275 vs 265). Is it still worthwhile to rotate them (swap sides). I have the stock 20" wheels.

Measure the tread wear. If the tread wear is even, then don't bother. If not rotate and get the alignment checked.

My SC advisor said today it should be done every 6250 miles (which I thought was quite specific) and would be done at no extra charge.

You can have a dismount rotation done on directional tires. tires are taken off the rims and remounted on opposite rim in the same direction.
