TMC Connect 2016

I can confirm that we are no longer at the Manhattan Beach Marriott.

Oh well, there goes the Chevron refinery perimeter road EV parade.... :)

Chevron read your post, Jeff, then reserved all the rooms at the Manhattan Beach Marriott from 7/28-7/30. :D

They are only rated #5 of 9 hotels in M.B. by TripAdvisor so we won't miss anything by not staying there.

Ok, we're getting there. Thanks for your patience.

Here's a brief update while we're still finishing the registration web site.

Yes we've changed locations. TMC Connect 2016 will be at the Atlantis in Reno. This location has 6 Tesla superchargers on site and is less than a 10 minute drive from the airport. (Managed to negotiate keeping the hot tub open till 1am for our group, since that seems to be important to some of our regulars.)

Our dates and schedule are unchanged.
We have an evening reception on Thursday July, 28. (registration 4-7pm, exhibits open 4-9pm, reception 6-9pm)
Main conference is during the day on Friday July, 29. Saturday we have a breakfast and some activities.

Airport to fly into is Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO).

You can reserve hotel here: https://www.atlantiscasino.com/reserve.html?g=STMC16&d=072816&n=3
Our group rate is $179/night which is competitive for our event weekend.

Map link for those driving: Google Maps

Hope to have event registration open by tonight or tomorrow.

That's a great choice!! I've never stayed, but it's ranked #1 of 65 Reno hotels, has a platinum GreenLeaders rating, plus a certificate of excellence from tripadvisor:

I also heard there's some kind of battery factory nearby? ;)

Ok, event site is live. There are still some tweaks to be done and info to add but the event registration is live and working....

There's a reference to "the Friday evening party at the Tesla Gigafactory". Is this going to be like the party at Tesla headquarters in Palo Alto last year? What I'm wondering is whether there's going to be any chance to see much of the factory. I'm guessing not, but I'd like to know for sure.

Pretty sure the Friday party is Save the Date - Gigafactory Party July 29th in Reno which Tesla is hosting and requires invites.

As it says on the registration form, that question is for planning purposes. Our main conference event (the date of which was set over 6 months ago) is during the day, so the timing and proximity works out for those also attending Tesla's evening party.

Knowing how many are going helps us determine if there are any transportation needs, and helps us plan something for those who aren't. (Also lets us know if the move from LA to Reno was worth it.)

Do people usually bring spouses? If so does one or both need to register?
People often bring spouses, and yes, each person needs to register for whichever parts they are attending. Though, the system is set up so both (up to 6 actually) can register at the same time. There's an A la Carte option to add some flexibility. The intention is at least one person attends the conference. The other might want to take a spa day, but still attend the reception the night before.

Ah, so it has nothing to do with TMC Connect. My confusion. Not something I'll be at then unless somebody provides me with their +1.

So no coordination with Tesla at all? What was the point of switching it to Reno then?

So that those who are going to the gigafactory party can also attend TMC Connect. And the rest of us can still party with them on Thursday night and get second-hand stories on Saturday morning.

And to answer your first question - yeah, I suspect there was insufficient coordination with Tesla, but since Doug reserved this date MONTHS ago, before gigafactory party date was set, the lack of communication is probably not TMC's fault ;)
