TMC Connect 2016

I am booked for TMC connect, Atlantis, GF party and Fremont factory tour. Whew! My Tesla meter goes to 11. Now if only I knew the Bonnie party secret handshake.

I wonder if the Atlantis would host a TMC connect poker tourney on Saturday? $500 entry fee! (completely serious btw)
@GasDoc - Didn't you try to arrange a poker game at the first event in 2013 but lose to Lori's hot tub gathering?

@austinEV - PM me if you need GasDoc's number to coordinate something.

Since it seems there may be several folks staying in Reno to go to the Picnic Creek party on Sunday, I was thinking of going to the National Auto Museum on Saturday after the SC opening. See: National Automobile Museum

It's about a 3 mile/10 minute ride, easily Uberable.

If there's enough interest, I can start a new thread and even contact the museum to see if we can get a group rate or a special tour, etc.
@HankLloydRight - Lori and I are interested. Definitely contact the Musem to see if we can get a group thing going. Please!

I'm still on the fence about going. I was toying with the idea of hosting some kind of technical break-out session for fellow geeks and engineer-types, or people just curious about technical details. I proposed this to Doug, but I think he's too busy to respond. If this isn't "officially sanctioned" by TMC, we could still do it off-schedule somewhere. Who would be interested in such a thing?
Interested!

We booked Thu, Fri, and Sat at the Atlantis in Reno. We're planning to have brunch at a casino restaurant (TBD) from 10:30a to 11:30a on Sunday, and corral the caravan group to head out to Bonnie's at noon (12p).
For those wanting to join the caravan, please meet at the parking lot area around the superchargers.

NOTE: I've been reminded that when I'm travelling for Tesla events sometimes I go a little dark on forum and email and phone.... Anyway, if you want to reach me over the next week please PM LoriH in advance so she can give you her cell phone so you can text her.

So nice of both of you to arrange the caravan to my place on Sunday. For those wanting to make it a complete Tesla weekend (TMCConnect, Gigafactory, then Party at Picnic Creek), you can get more info and sign up for the Party here. I hadn't been posting anywhere but the thread, but I've gotten several messages asking me 'How do I sign up?'.

Everyone is going to have a great weekend, with so many Tesla offerings. I'll see some of you at the Fri evening party and a lot of you here at the house on Sunday.

What are folks interested in doing on Saturday after the ribbon cutting/public interaction? Here's some options via my Reno contacts:

Fun things to do on Saturday:
·National Automobile Musuem – Features an extensive assortment of cars including the first electric car.
www.automuseum.org
National Automobile Museum, Reno, NV
Kayden West
Ph#775.333.9300 ext. 303
Email: [email protected]
Kayden is in charge of group programs and is a terrific person to work with. If you’d like to schedule some guided tours, please call Kayden. I advised her that you may be interested in connecting!

·Lake Tahoe – The two most popular areas of Lake Tahoe are the north and south ends. It’s interesting that the Nevada/California State Line crosses Lake Tahoe so there are Casino’s on the Nevada side of the state line and they disappear as you drive across to California. Here are a few fun things to enjoy:

Here’s a cool site that has pictures of what you’ll get to see and enjoy. Won’t have any snow, but the views will be awesome. Make sure you keep your eyes on the road and have an incredible time! Reno to Incline Village – 32 miles, Lake Tahoe Circle Tour – 68 miles, Incline Village to Reno – 32 miles. Total miles: 132. There are several variations of where to start and end, however, this one gives you the full drive around the lake with the fewest miles.

oThere are a number of boat tours available for Lake Tahoe. The most popular departs out of Zephyr Cove in South Lake Tahoe. It’s good size paddle boat including multiple levels for great sightseeing and bar! Lunch and dinner cruises are also available. Our Fleet of Paddle Wheelers & Lake Yacht | Zephyr Cove Resort & Lake Tahoe Cruises

oThere are a lot of other fun things to do on Lake Tahoe from fishing to hanging out! Google, “Lake Tahoe” to get an almost endless array of activities.

·Virginia City – once the richest city in America because of the 19th century mining bonanza. You will step back in time to enjoy the shops, bars and wooden plank sidewalks from the old west. You may get lucky (actually you will get lucky) to find citizens dressed in period clothing walking the sidewalks. A super selfie opportunity! On July 30, 2016 the streets and sidewalks will be filled with classic cars and attendees for Hot August Nights (it’s the pre-event to the Reno Citywide Hot August Nights). Be ready for a lot of cars and people!

·Atlantis offers a wonderful assortment of restaurants for lunch and dinner. Here’ s our restaurant link: https://www.atlantiscasino.com/reno-restaurants - just a tidbit of info: TripAdvisor Readers rank 6 of our 8 restaurants in the top 20!

·TMC Poker Tournament – We’re doing further research on minimums and what Atlantis can offer. Stay tuned!

So is this something people are actually interested in? I need to know soon.

------------
TMC Poker Tournament – I received approval to offer a TMC Poker Tournament in our non-smoking Poker Room. Based on your schedule, perhaps Saturday @ 1 pm would be a good time. Please advise us ASAP so we can staff for the event.

·We recommend a $60 buy-in which would include $10 admin fee, $10 dealer gratuity and $40 to the prize pool for each entrant. We could also allow re-buys for the first hour which would go directly to the prize pool. We would use the following structure which lasts a little over two hours:

Play will conclude after level 8. Players will place based on whoever has the most chips at conclusion of play. Prize pool will be paid out according to standard payout table: 1st – 3rd Places Paid. Atlantis would also like to add a few prizes to increase the value for the winners. First Place – One free week night stay at Atlantis based on availability, Second Prize - $50 gift certificate for any restaurant at Atlantis, Third Prize – $50 credit for Spa Atlantis. All restrictions apply.

Is there a preferred method of conference communications (both organizer and attendee)?

Is will it all be TMC forum based?

Or what about using Twitter with a hashtag or a Slack? **

** For any old-timers who don't know what Slack is or what it does, it's what we used to call "instant messaging" or IRC in the olden-times, but the millennials/hipsters needed something new and cool to call it.
