TMC going down for maintenance

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Well, using "watched threads' works, once you actually have the correct message set as the last read post in each thread.

The problem is that it appears somehow, either intentionally or unintentionally, that information did not make the transition from the old site. I have a post upthread that would pretty much help get us to the point where we could identify new posts in our watched threads pretty quickly, but it relies on an option that may not be available in this software.

It'll work as before and go to the last read post eventually... the new XF database has no way of knowing where you last left off reading in VB.

TMC Temporary Chatbox
[2016-03-12 11:02 PM] doug: Hi There. TMC is in basically in a read-only mode while we're down for maintenance. If you do manage to post somewhere, that content will be lost. You can use this chatbox during this down period. Cheers!
[2016-03-12 11:51 PM] FlasherZ: First !!
[2016-03-13 12:00 AM] doug: Popular feature, I see. (not)
[2016-03-13 12:08 AM] JER: Well, this is different...
[2016-03-13 12:14 AM] Ubbe: Where's everyone? This happens *all* the time. And I brought snacks. All for nothing.
[2016-03-13 12:19 AM] ilikechowfan: I've got a quick question - does the blackvue dashcam interfere with autopilot camera at all? I guess it would depend on where you install the front camera. But in the regular 'hidden' spot behind the rear view mirror does it get in the way of the autopilo
[2016-03-13 12:22 AM] Ubbe: I cannot be certain, but I can't imagine that it would interfere as the ap-cam is in it's own box designed with a clear view..?
[2016-03-13 12:36 AM] ilikechowfan: I thought the ap cam was on the back of the rearview mirror?
[2016-03-13 12:38 AM] TEG: Don't forget about daylight savings, folks.
[2016-03-13 12:44 AM] 1208: Notice: You are currently flagged as Idle. Click here to un-flag.
[2016-03-13 01:00 AM] bmah: The AP camera is flush against the windshield, not on the back of the rear-view mirror. It's physically impossible to mount a dash cam in a way that would interfere with the AP camera. Well unless you try really really hard. <img src="images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Tongue" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 01:00 AM] meloccom: OMG it's like a chat group circa 1994! Thanks for the night off Doug and for everything else you do.
[2016-03-13 02:02 AM] garygid: Hi all ... perhaps get some rest for a change?
[2016-03-13 02:06 AM] Dave Davies (PM): Gary, did you continue work on the open chademo unit?
[2016-03-13 02:44 AM] hobbes: Strange experience reading threads and thinking... Arghh, what are you writing there - need to reply! But can´t! Like a bad dream <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />.
[2016-03-13 02:44 AM] hobbes: Good luck with the maintanance and thanks for all the work, Doug et al!
[2016-03-13 02:46 AM] hobbes: On second thought, we could discuss everything here and have the mods sort it into all the correct threads once things are back to normal <img src="images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Tongue" class="inlineimg" /> .
[2016-03-13 03:12 AM] Johan: IRC throwback. Nice.
[2016-03-13 03:12 AM] Johan: #TMC
[2016-03-13 04:19 AM] ggr: Hi! Currently in Australia, so up late. Or early. Or something.
[2016-03-13 04:36 AM] Runarbt: /me like this
[2016-03-13 04:37 AM] Runarbt: hello from Norway, a slow sunday
[2016-03-13 05:04 AM] chriSharek: Forum down for maintenance still?
[2016-03-13 05:04 AM] chriSharek: Gooday EVeryone!
[2016-03-13 05:04 AM] chriSharek: Hello Norway! I'll bet you're freezing!
[2016-03-13 05:04 AM] chriSharek: It's about 26 C here in Sunny Florida!
[2016-03-13 05:12 AM] 3s-a-charm: How retro... like a massive group text.
[2016-03-13 05:19 AM] Hogfighter: I need my TMC!
[2016-03-13 05:21 AM] Johan: It's not &quot;freezing&quot; here in southern Norway. Just around 0 C. I just went for a long cross country ski ride <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 05:22 AM] vortexz: Hey everyone
[2016-03-13 05:23 AM] vortexz: when is TMC going to be back ?
[2016-03-13 06:17 AM] Hogfighter: Way to go, Johan! I played golf yesterday and going for a sail today.
[2016-03-13 06:31 AM] krnshh: Hopefully from tomorrow it'll be +15 degrees here in southern Norway.
[2016-03-13 06:32 AM] krnshh: Atleast that's whats predicted
[2016-03-13 06:51 AM] Doug_G: I see everyone is going through withdrawl!
[2016-03-13 06:55 AM] 9837264723849: where else can i read some info about the model 3?
[2016-03-13 06:57 AM] wk057: Hmmmm!
[2016-03-13 06:58 AM] wk057: So... why isnt this a stabdard thing? Lol
[2016-03-13 06:58 AM] wk057: *standard
[2016-03-13 06:59 AM] 9837264723849: I'm gonna finish this book Or noir (&quot;the great story of oil&quot;, in french) and cry a little
[2016-03-13 07:02 AM] Mark Z: Enjoy the weekend and the extra hour of sunshine!
[2016-03-13 07:05 AM] CTemp222: Came on for some Tesla time and the site is down <img src="images/smilies/crying.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Crying" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 07:07 AM] AlMc: Going to have to get my 'TM fix' on the TM forum...Ughh!
[2016-03-13 07:17 AM] wk057: extra hour of sunshine? more like stolen hour of sleep. :p
[2016-03-13 07:26 AM] NOLA_Mike: What time does the controversy start here in the chat box?
[2016-03-13 07:36 AM] spottyq: @NOLA_Mike : Sooo&#8230; diesel of gasoline ?
[2016-03-13 07:36 AM] spottyq: *or sorry.
[2016-03-13 07:46 AM] Sogorman: top of the morning to everynoe
[2016-03-13 08:08 AM] Btr_ftw: oh hai guise
[2016-03-13 08:09 AM] satoshi: Hi flood boy :p
[2016-03-13 08:12 AM] satoshi: I need to make a decision as to whether or not this year will be the year that I transition all the clocks today and for once have all my clocks appropriately adjusted by the end of day of daylight savings...
[2016-03-13 08:12 AM] satoshi: or if I should do what I normally do and wait about a month before it really really bothers me and THEN finally change it...
[2016-03-13 08:17 AM] garygid: Argue, Forum Stille Doun. Watt wheel eye Due?
[2016-03-13 08:20 AM] igotzzoom: Good morning from SoCal!
[2016-03-13 08:24 AM] garygid: @igot... what city? I am in Laguna Hills.
[2016-03-13 08:25 AM] Nvbob: Hello chat box! New feature?
[2016-03-13 08:37 AM] igotzzoom: @Gary...I'm in Laguna Hills too! North LH.
[2016-03-13 08:39 AM] Pheadrus: Good morning from New Hampshire. With any luck, I pick up Sig #875 next week...
[2016-03-13 08:40 AM] Pheadrus: MX, that is.
[2016-03-13 08:41 AM] igotzzoom: Holding out for a Model 3.
[2016-03-13 08:42 AM] igotzzoom: I'd really love to get a job in clean tech, but I'm not an engineer or installer. Have a writing/editing background. Any thoughts/ideas?
[2016-03-13 08:45 AM] igotzzoom: This is kind of cool. I hope they make it a permanent feature. Is there usually a chat function on the TMC site?
[2016-03-13 08:45 AM] Skotty: Hello from Kansas City.
[2016-03-13 09:13 AM] eloder: Yay, a chatbox!
[2016-03-13 09:15 AM] vdiv: Have been a big skeptic of autopilot, but it did really well last night on a long trip home from the shore. Worth getting when ordering.
[2016-03-13 09:43 AM] vortexz: Go model 3 !
[2016-03-13 09:47 AM] pox: Hello!
[2016-03-13 09:50 AM] M67v: Sup?
[2016-03-13 09:51 AM] vortexz: I am a TESLA lover but I am too poor to afford an MS or MX so I'm waiting for Model 3 ! anyone with mee ?
[2016-03-13 09:53 AM] pox: I have an S, also looking at getting a 3 for my office
[2016-03-13 09:54 AM] vortexz: http://vortexzsignals.com/tesla-model-3-countdown-to-official-reveal/
[2016-03-13 09:58 AM] pox: nice count down
[2016-03-13 10:12 AM] pox: I'm thinking about selling my 2015 S 85D and getting a X90 or maybe wait a bit for the X100
[2016-03-13 10:15 AM] pox: I love my Tesla, the crazy wind in my state Wyoming and lack of superchargers, Got me thinking I might be better off selling now and waiting until later in the year to get another Tesla.
[2016-03-13 10:17 AM] mikecronis: I have a question about Roadster charging
[2016-03-13 10:17 AM] mikecronis: Colorado Springs, Colorado has some official &quot;Tesla&quot; charge stations. I suspect these are Level 3 charge-stations.
[2016-03-13 10:18 AM] mikecronis: If I get my Roadster to an official Tesla charger, will it be a direct-fit and work?
[2016-03-13 10:19 AM] pox: Roadsters can't currently do level supercharging. You can use the destination charging at a hotels.
[2016-03-13 10:20 AM] igotzzoom: Does Tesla offer a newer-style retrofit plug update for Roadsters?
[2016-03-13 10:21 AM] pox: Tesla — Roadster J1772 Mobile Connector lets you hook up to J1772 public chargers
[2016-03-13 10:22 AM] pox: If you look on plugshare.com, they are a bit slow on charge rate but work
[2016-03-13 10:22 AM] mikecronis: I know Plugshare allows charging via Level 2, yes.
[2016-03-13 10:23 AM] mikecronis: But there are official Tesla charge-stations everywhere, sort of like an infrastructure. Will official Tesla Charge Stations work, going down to a 240V-80A AC, or will the Roadster ignore the input?
[2016-03-13 10:24 AM] mikecronis: Like, if I went to the Tesla station in Denver and plugged-in? I know there is the CAN system adapter and others in the works, and the 3.0 can handle it as well.
[2016-03-13 10:24 AM] mikecronis: I've just seen some Tesla official charge stations and didn't know if a Chevy Volt, Cadillac ELR (I own both) or a Tesla Roadster could be plugged in?
[2016-03-13 10:25 AM] igotzzoom: @mikecronis...Sounds like you're asking about a new-style to Roadster plug adapter?
[2016-03-13 10:26 AM] e-FTW: You mean the home HPWC? http://shop.teslamotors.com/products/high-power-wall-connector
[2016-03-13 10:28 AM] pox: The CAN - Roadster to J1772 or Model S/X connector
[2016-03-13 10:28 AM] mikecronis: Ah, sorry, no. There are Tesla buildings that exist for maintenance around, as well as Tesla actual &quot;stations&quot; that exist.
[2016-03-13 10:28 AM] mikecronis: It will say, &quot;Tesla Charging Station&quot;.
[2016-03-13 10:29 AM] mikecronis: <a href="http://www.valuewalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/tesla-charging-station.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.valuewalk.com/wp-content/...ng-station.jpg</a>
[2016-03-13 10:30 AM] pox: With this adapter &quot; The CAN - Roadster to J1772 or Model S/X connector&quot; you can use any of the Model S chargers except the super chargers.
[2016-03-13 10:31 AM] mikecronis: You'd think that Tesla Charging Stations would be backwards-compatible with Roadsters. If I go on a cross-country trip, I'd have to be very selective as to which chargers I use, or use the Universal Charger and a KOA Campground NEMA 15-40
[2016-03-13 10:31 AM] hcsharp: pox is correct. I make an adapter to charge a Roadster from a J1772 station and another adapter to charge from the Tesla chargers for the Model S/X such as the HPWC and UMC
[2016-03-13 10:32 AM] mikecronis: Yes, hcsharp, I've seen your adapter, it's very cool.
[2016-03-13 10:32 AM] hcsharp: The station in your link is a Supercharger. My CAN SR adapter will not enable you to charge from a supercharger
[2016-03-13 10:33 AM] mikecronis: The Tesla Supercharges only work for the 3.0 upgrade then, it seems.
[2016-03-13 10:33 AM] hcsharp: No, they don't work for the 3.0 upgrade.
[2016-03-13 10:35 AM] mikecronis: Thanks, hcsharp.
[2016-03-13 10:36 AM] mikecronis: So I'm stuck with PlugShare-listed Level-2 chargers or KOA campground-sites. I think most of the ChargePoint locations are only 208V-40A.
[2016-03-13 10:37 AM] hcsharp: Most of the Chargepoint stations are only 30A. Worse, they are usually only 208v.
[2016-03-13 10:37 AM] mikecronis: Thanks, hscharp. Can you explain your SR CAN?
[2016-03-13 10:38 AM] hcsharp: Campgrounds and RV parks (not just KOA) have NEMA 14-50 outlets which allow you to charge at 40A 240v if you have a mobile charging cable to plug into it.
[2016-03-13 10:38 AM] mikecronis: I understand the other CAN product is more compact.
[2016-03-13 10:39 AM] mikecronis: Yeah, isn't that called the Universal Charge Adapter?
[2016-03-13 10:39 AM] pox: Destination Charging | Tesla Motors is pretty good, mostly 80amps or at least 40amp and they are popping up like crasy
[2016-03-13 10:39 AM] hcsharp: It's called the UMC which stands for Universal Mobile Connector. They had a Roadster version and a Model S/X version. Not sure if they still make the Roadster version.
[2016-03-13 10:40 AM] hcsharp: pox nailed it again!
[2016-03-13 10:42 AM] mikecronis: Hey, thanks guys. Anyone here try a cross-country?
[2016-03-13 10:42 AM] hcsharp: Tesla has installed over 6,000 chargers across the country at destinations like restaurants and hotels. If you have a CAN SR you can charge your Roadster from those. And like he said, they are usually 40 - 80 amps which is nice if you're on a long trip.
[2016-03-13 10:44 AM] hcsharp: Several people have driven their Roadsters across the country. If you search the forum you will find their stories.
[2016-03-13 10:48 AM] hcsharp: Rafael de Mestre from Spain traveled around the world in his Roadster, including across the US (and China, Europe, Middle East, etc.)
[2016-03-13 10:49 AM] hcsharp: And he's about to do it again, although he's not sure if he'll do it in his Roadster again, or a Model S this time.
[2016-03-13 11:21 AM] Chris TX: Such chatting
[2016-03-13 11:31 AM] chargeshare: <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 11:52 AM] Brad_NC: I wonder how long the Forum will be down for? When this forum is down, I am way too productive at work, haha.
[2016-03-13 12:40 PM] mikecronis: It seems the Tesla &quot;showroom&quot; personnel don't like the Roadster too much. I had quite a bad experience recently in Denver.
[2016-03-13 12:43 PM] Curt: That's a pity, @mikecronis - I had a really nice conversation with the staff there about two years ago. The folks working there at that time were very interested in my experiences with the Roadster.
[2016-03-13 12:45 PM] bonnie: My experience is that showroom staff LOVE having a Roadster around - odd that Denver is different
[2016-03-13 12:52 PM] 1208: TMC down. Only 1 sane explanation. Judgement Day, Omega point, the singularity, is upon us.
[2016-03-13 12:53 PM] Brad_NC: Some people call older car models a company's &quot;heritage,&quot; some people call the same thing &quot;the mistakes of the early days.&quot; Personally, I would have a hard time being less than welcoming to anyone with the older models...
[2016-03-13 12:53 PM] Brad_NC: In reality the original owners are the real &quot;Founders.&quot; Anyone who works to keep-up the older models are preserving that heritage. Kudos!
[2016-03-13 01:02 PM] Khatsalano: Shoutbox is awesome. We should have this more often.
[2016-03-13 01:02 PM] Khatsalano: Like when I'm a the Manteca or Frenso supercharger tomorrow ... would be fun to meet up for coffee during a charge session.
[2016-03-13 01:09 PM] tstafford: Nashville SC doesn't seem to want to talk Tesla at all. Very reserved. No nonsense. No funny really.
[2016-03-13 02:05 PM] os1r1s: Why do you want the Nashville SC to talk to Tesla? Do you have an issue they won't resolve?
[2016-03-13 03:29 PM] Ulmo: Hello. From my deductive reasoning, I have determined that I am about to transmit a paragraph into a chat where I am talking to myself.
[2016-03-13 03:30 PM] Ulmo: Now I am responding to myself by telling myself that it seems to be true as far as I can tell.
[2016-03-13 03:30 PM] Ulmo: Hi Trev!
[2016-03-13 03:35 PM] 2virgule5: Hi there
[2016-03-13 03:36 PM] 2virgule5: so no rumors on what/when/if model S refresh there is... Well, that will wait Monday then <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 03:37 PM] Ulmo: The Roadster is part of Tesla's heritage. Good customer service would treat these people very well.
[2016-03-13 03:38 PM] Ulmo: 2virgule5, have you been hearing recent rumors, or are you just waiting for general new updated information?
[2016-03-13 03:41 PM] 2virgule5: nope, just reading stuff there and there. Apart for the P100D leak from last week and Tesla Sales being pushy for end of heard nothing worth mentioning
[2016-03-13 03:41 PM] 2virgule5: which bothers me a bit as I was THAT close to upgrade my &quot;classic&quot; 85
[2016-03-13 03:42 PM] 2virgule5: got burned for few months last time by missing on and and autopilot I don't want this again... So I'm waiting for model 3 reveal to see if something else is announced
[2016-03-13 03:50 PM] anxman: coool
[2016-03-13 03:53 PM] Ulmo: I think new features get introduced in waves. A feature comes out, then nothing for a while, like 3 months. So, one idea is to pounce as soon as the next new thing is announced, and then by the time you receive delivery of the new feature,
[2016-03-13 03:53 PM] Ulmo: you have about 1 month left of being a tiny tiny tiny little bit better off. Then the advantage gets recycled into the ages.
[2016-03-13 04:32 PM] FlasherZ: On Friday night, my wife drove the P85 classic S up to my son's game. On Saturday night, I drove the P90DL X up. She drove the X and I drove the S back home today... I told her I'll consider trading up to a 100D w/ AP. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 04:36 PM] FlasherZ: Sounds like they're moving to a new platform and we're going to lose our reputation
[2016-03-13 04:38 PM] FlasherZ: I managed to pass Nigel to third place behind bonnie and wk057
[2016-03-13 04:53 PM] markwj: My hands are showing a slight tremor. I keep hitting the refresh button. Must be TMC withdrawal symptoms.
[2016-03-13 05:03 PM] anticitizen13.7: 2 weeks to Model 3.
[2016-03-13 05:03 PM] anticitizen13.7: 1 week to Apple's event, approximately.
[2016-03-13 05:04 PM] anticitizen13.7: What will Apple reveal and will it be as cool as what Tesla reveals?
[2016-03-13 05:22 PM] Cattledog: I think the site upgrades are 50% that we're simply a growing community and 50% in anticipation of the Model 3 blowing up our little corner of the internet. Can you imagine how many new eyeballs to TMC a few hundred thousand reservations will create?
[2016-03-13 05:29 PM] jaguar36: Ohhh a chatroom
[2016-03-13 05:29 PM] wk057: hmm... reset of rep would be disappointing <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 05:30 PM] jaguar36: Don't want another shot at passing Bonnie?
[2016-03-13 05:30 PM] wk057: I dont think i had a chance at catching bonnie. she's way cooler than I <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 05:31 PM] jaguar36: Hah
[2016-03-13 05:33 PM] wk057: well, I did take a screenshot of the sorted-by-rep list a week or so ago at least
[2016-03-13 05:51 PM] chargeshare: The site must come back up on occasion. I see a few new posts today...
[2016-03-13 05:52 PM] chargeshare: This chat thing looks horrible on a chromebook, can't read anything.
[2016-03-13 06:06 PM] supratachophobia: Hey wk057 is on
[2016-03-13 06:06 PM] supratachophobia: Tablet isn't much better
[2016-03-13 06:07 PM] chargeshare: I'm going through Tesla withdrawl
[2016-03-13 06:08 PM] wk057: Chat keeps snapping back to the bottom when I try to read scrollback. <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 06:09 PM] chargeshare: over 1500 people online for a forum in read only mode, impressive
[2016-03-13 06:11 PM] chargeshare: I'm now reading the chat through the archive, it's unreadable for me on the frontpage. /shrug
[2016-03-13 06:14 PM] chargeshare: Everywhere there is energy...
[2016-03-13 06:18 PM] Jersey Shore Tom: I assume the forums will come back up as soon as all of the details of the Model 3 reservation process are uploaded into them.
[2016-03-13 06:20 PM] chargeshare: Must be quite the reservation process if it's taken this long to get the site updated for that. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 06:22 PM] bonnie: This site is independent of Tesla Motors - so probably won't find the Model 3 reservation process here first. Just doing a port to a new platform is my understanding.
[2016-03-13 06:23 PM] Jersey Shore Tom: It is very tough to design and implement a process that automatically puts TMC members to the top of the list without anyone else noticing it.
[2016-03-13 07:17 PM] pox: I like this chat, did they have it before?
[2016-03-13 07:22 PM] FlasherZ: No, it's meant to help those people who would immediately go into withdrawal convulsions.
[2016-03-13 07:33 PM] srthomas21: So site upgrades making it so I can't post?
[2016-03-13 07:35 PM] FlasherZ: Yup. Going to a new platform.
[2016-03-13 07:36 PM] Xenoilphobe: I must be an addict - I look forward to browsing this site every night!
[2016-03-13 07:44 PM] markwj: Good opportunity to go back through the archives and find some interesting history. At least the trolls are blocked.
[2016-03-13 07:57 PM] wk057: Any hints on the new platform? People dont usually like change. Lol
[2016-03-13 08:05 PM] srthomas21: anyone want to bitch about lack of a decent media player and phone integration <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:13 PM] Ulmo: On my extended test drive, I found that the BlueTooth worked well with my iPhone 6+, and I mounted my iPhone 6+ to the dash, so that I could control the media options from my phone. The Tesla integrated Bluetooth stuff allowed me to pause and turn volume
[2016-03-13 08:13 PM] FlasherZ: I didn't mind tapatalk
[2016-03-13 08:13 PM] FlasherZ: oh, you mean phone integration with car *shrugs* worked ok for me except for one of google's nexus updates
[2016-03-13 08:13 PM] Ulmo: down, and answer calls, so I was pretty happy with that. It certainly isn't the most feature-heavy Bluetooth integration, but it had album art and the music was clean
[2016-03-13 08:14 PM] Ulmo: A lot of people wish it would do everything: let you browse your music, skip around inside a song/podcast/etc., but obviously that's what's missing. It has the &quot;bare minimum&quot;, basically.
[2016-03-13 08:14 PM] FlasherZ: one of google's bluetooth updates made the car's navigation system reinit each time I'd get a call while driving
[2016-03-13 08:15 PM] Ulmo: shudder. This is Chat so I can say it, but normally I wouldn't post every stream of consciousness thing I have. (I've learned to hold back somewhat.) But you reminded me that I'm very concerned someone could hack into the actual automatic driving featur
[2016-03-13 08:16 PM] FlasherZ: when the forums come back, I have a fresh P90DL / Model X supercharging taper curve to post
[2016-03-13 08:16 PM] Ulmo: Awesome!
[2016-03-13 08:18 PM] Ulmo: I'm looking forward to efforts of various people to implement DC-DC home charging. wk057 has been dabbling some in that from what I understand, and I have a feeling he's not the only one.
[2016-03-13 08:18 PM] Ulmo: solar panels -&gt; Tesla, solar panels -&gt; voltage step up -&gt; Tesla, battery -&gt; Tesla, and battery -&gt; voltage step up -&gt; Tesla are the 4 scenereos I'm imagining
[2016-03-13 08:19 PM] FlasherZ: It started at 118 kW, then held at 111 kW until 27% SOC. 90 kWh pack crosses the 90 kW threshold at 37% SOC
[2016-03-13 08:19 PM] wk057: mines going to be solar -&gt; charge controllers -&gt; batteries -&gt; inverters -&gt; AC-DC charger stack -&gt; Tesla
[2016-03-13 08:20 PM] FlasherZ: Meh, I don't think it's going to be much more efficient at all, and it's going to be expensive
[2016-03-13 08:20 PM] wk057: certainly not the most efficient, but should work nicely
[2016-03-13 08:20 PM] FlasherZ: but for an engineering special, I'm sure Jason will figure it out
[2016-03-13 08:20 PM] Ulmo: Well in that case, probably all the money spent on thicker wire saved by going AC would make up for the AC converter losses I guess *strug*
[2016-03-13 08:20 PM] wk057: finding a good way to step up ~44VDC to ~400VDC at any reasonable cost is just... not reasonable
[2016-03-13 08:21 PM] Ulmo: wk057, true! You have a sweet pool of electrons to work from.
[2016-03-13 08:21 PM] FlasherZ: I thought about picking up EMW's isolated 25 kW unit with ChaDeMo controller
[2016-03-13 08:21 PM] wk057: I'm mainly doing it so that I have faster charging when I need it. Probably going to do ~50kW so I can use the Tesla connector from the CHAdeMO adapter
[2016-03-13 08:21 PM] FlasherZ: just to make Model X better at charging
[2016-03-13 08:22 PM] Ulmo: FlasherZ, so moral of the story is run the thing down to 20% SOC for fast charging? *ducks* no that would be dumb
[2016-03-13 08:22 PM] wk057: well, I've got Tesla's 10kW gen2 chargers working on my bench without any other Tesla components
[2016-03-13 08:22 PM] wk057: and I've got 6 of them sitting here
[2016-03-13 08:22 PM] FlasherZ: On Model X, the 72A charger won't even do 72A if you have more than 240V RMS
[2016-03-13 08:23 PM] FlasherZ: on my 250V, it will only do 69A
[2016-03-13 08:23 PM] wk057: so it clips output power vs amperage? seems strange
[2016-03-13 08:23 PM] Ulmo: So it's got some internal wiring limitation
[2016-03-13 08:23 PM] FlasherZ: No, internal wiring would be current
[2016-03-13 08:23 PM] FlasherZ: it's power-limited to 17.5 kW
[2016-03-13 08:24 PM] FlasherZ: Engineering tells me that it's to ensure longevity of the charger
[2016-03-13 08:24 PM] wk057: interesting
[2016-03-13 08:24 PM] FlasherZ: (SMH...)
[2016-03-13 08:24 PM] wk057: the gen2 10kW ones I've run at 280VAC @ 48A
[2016-03-13 08:24 PM] wk057: or ~13kW
[2016-03-13 08:24 PM] Ulmo: Yes but it probably has a maximum DC voltage output level internally and then the current limits it (thus the wire size). I've been wrong before -- you two are better at electronics than I am *blush*
[2016-03-13 08:25 PM] FlasherZ: Yeah, they're pretty beefy. I thought about feeding the car from my 277V lighting circuit off 3ph, but didn't want to blow anything up
[2016-03-13 08:25 PM] Ulmo: FlasherZ, I suspect you're right: a policythiing
[2016-03-13 08:26 PM] FlasherZ: definitely need a different EVSE
[2016-03-13 08:26 PM] wk057: FlasherZ: With the gen2 units it'll be fine. I'd never try that on the gen1 though.
[2016-03-13 08:26 PM] wk057: the gen1 design is complete garbage :-\
[2016-03-13 08:26 PM] FlasherZ: I thought there was a sticker on one of the gen 1 units that said 85-265V
[2016-03-13 08:26 PM] FlasherZ: but Ingineer told me it goes to 277
[2016-03-13 08:27 PM] FlasherZ: either way, not worth letting out magic smoke. Amazon doesn't sell it anymore.
[2016-03-13 08:27 PM] wk057: gen2 will do 300VAC
[2016-03-13 08:27 PM] FlasherZ: I hope to never experience 300VAC anywhere.
[2016-03-13 08:27 PM] wk057: gen1 is labeled at 265V I believe, but honestly I think there are some components in there only rated for 250VAC
[2016-03-13 08:28 PM] FlasherZ: I thought the early 90 kW SC's used gen 1 chargers, though - they stretching them to 277?
[2016-03-13 08:28 PM] wk057: probably
[2016-03-13 08:29 PM] Ulmo: Something about having 6 gen2 chargers hooked via EVSE to a Tesla makes me feel more comfortable than charging via the HWPC. As long as the 6 gen2 units are in a fireproof room.
[2016-03-13 08:29 PM] FlasherZ: Not that it's unheard of, my power company occasionally subjects me to 256V when their regulators go haywire.
[2016-03-13 08:29 PM] wk057: gen2 has three individual 16A/300VAC fully isolated charger modules
[2016-03-13 08:29 PM] FlasherZ: yeah, I assumed as such when I saw how they were handling 3ph
[2016-03-13 08:30 PM] wk057: the gen2 design is pretty good. I like it
[2016-03-13 08:30 PM] FlasherZ: only limitation is the neutral though
[2016-03-13 08:30 PM] wk057: well, I plan on running mine with each 16A module sitting on its own 20A 240V breaker
[2016-03-13 08:30 PM] FlasherZ: how beefy is the common between them?
[2016-03-13 08:31 PM] wk057: each module just has a two wire input that hooks into the HVJB as a 6 wire connector from the charger.
[2016-03-13 08:31 PM] Ulmo: um so I'm new to 480VAC 3phase .... L-L is 277VAC and then the gen2 pulls each L-L from the 3ph to its 3 16A isolated charger modules? Then that is nifty right there ...
[2016-03-13 08:31 PM] wk057: so the HVJB can feed it L-L in parallel for single phase, or L1-N, L2-N, L3-N for 3ph
[2016-03-13 08:31 PM] FlasherZ: Oh, nevermind, that's not the component that had the problem - it was on the cable itself that fed the 3ph in europe
[2016-03-13 08:32 PM] FlasherZ: someone smoked an EVSE by trying to feed the car single-phase across the 3ph inputs because the neutral wasn't large enough
[2016-03-13 08:32 PM] FlasherZ: phase angles FTW <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:32 PM] wk057: ah... yeah that wont work with a 3PH wired HVJB
[2016-03-13 08:32 PM] wk057: *boom*
[2016-03-13 08:33 PM] FlasherZ: wow, what a throwback to my IRC days...
[2016-03-13 08:33 PM] FlasherZ: love the live conversation
[2016-03-13 08:33 PM] wk057: we have ##teslamotors on freenode. I hang there more than TMC most days
[2016-03-13 08:34 PM] FlasherZ: so tonight I decided to see just how generous my battery pack would be. I arrived home from a trip with 13 miles remaining
[2016-03-13 08:34 PM] FlasherZ: so I turned on the heater full blast
[2016-03-13 08:35 PM] FlasherZ: put the car in neutral, set the parking brake, climbed out passenger side... (the car will restrict heating/cooling if off or in 'P')
[2016-03-13 08:35 PM] wk057: should take about 40 minutes to kill 13 miles with HI heat
[2016-03-13 08:35 PM] wk057: assuming you left the windows open (it still cuts off at some point if it gets too hot)
[2016-03-13 08:36 PM] wk057: I use the car to heat my garage. works great. lol
[2016-03-13 08:36 PM] FlasherZ: yes... and at 5 miles or so it won't run the heater unless it's in gear... despite HI / red defrost, it was blowing cold air and you could hear compressor running
[2016-03-13 08:36 PM] FlasherZ: so I put it in neutral, used touchscreen to set the brake, and climbed out the passenger side to keep the car &quot;on&quot;
[2016-03-13 08:36 PM] FlasherZ: it stayed at 0 for nearly 30 minutes before I gave up - never shut down
[2016-03-13 08:37 PM] wk057: should get a CAN logger <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:37 PM] FlasherZ: and it never showed &quot;Charge Now&quot; - I don't know if it does that any more
[2016-03-13 08:37 PM] wk057: would have been good to see that data
[2016-03-13 08:37 PM] FlasherZ: I don't know if I have any more time for *more* &quot;interesting projects&quot;
[2016-03-13 08:38 PM] wk057: basically every Model S I've seen CAN logs of show that the pack SoC calculation is off (showing lower than actual)
[2016-03-13 08:38 PM] FlasherZ: so I'm waiting for the full recharge now - by morning I'll see where the car thinks its pack is... it appears that 7.1 changed the algorithm a bit, or something happened that changed my seasonality curve
[2016-03-13 08:38 PM] Ulmo: My assumption is 1. oversight by Tesla, letting you run down the battery, or 2. allowing someone in a cold climate awaiting tow to stay warm so they don't freeze to death.
[2016-03-13 08:38 PM] FlasherZ: it's still following the curve, but at 7.1 it shifted rated range *down*
[2016-03-13 08:39 PM] FlasherZ: for me at least... we'll see where it ends up
[2016-03-13 08:39 PM] Ulmo: as long as the pack was ok
[2016-03-13 08:39 PM] wk057: yeah, the BMS seems to have kind of reset with one of the 7.1 updates. mine actually went up 5 miles at 100%, but it's back to where it was now
[2016-03-13 08:39 PM] FlasherZ: well, some say I have a &quot;magic pack&quot;
[2016-03-13 08:39 PM] wk057: my wife's went down a few miles with 7.1
[2016-03-13 08:39 PM] FlasherZ: after 55,000 miles on my pack, it still charged to within 4 miles of original
[2016-03-13 08:40 PM] FlasherZ: and with today's trip, I proved it wasn't estimating high (not shutting down after 30 minutes at 0 seems like it's still low)
[2016-03-13 08:40 PM] wk057: well, really... these cells don't degrade that badly, especially if you don't leave it parked in the heat often
[2016-03-13 08:40 PM] wk057: Tesla's BMS is just pessimistic
[2016-03-13 08:40 PM] Ulmo: FlasherZ, maybe your pack is a 95kWh that's limited SOC virtually, for some chemistry testing, and it is actually a $200,000 lab pack. Which is why most people don't have one.
[2016-03-13 08:41 PM] wk057: lol
[2016-03-13 08:41 PM] FlasherZ: Considering that when I got it, it was a refurb &quot;D&quot;, I doubt that <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:41 PM] Ulmo: honestly it's probably your guys' colder climates
[2016-03-13 08:41 PM] FlasherZ: err, refurb rev D
[2016-03-13 08:42 PM] FlasherZ: Model X range charged to 253 today - first time we did a full top off
[2016-03-13 08:42 PM] FlasherZ: so now I have a reference point there.
[2016-03-13 08:42 PM] wk057: for example, if I look at my wife's CAN data with her car at 50% SoC (~44% on the dash) the resting cell voltages fit on my energy map from loose cells at about 52% SoC. And sure enough, the BMS is reporting about 2% degradation...
[2016-03-13 08:42 PM] wk057: but there doesn't appear to actually be 2% degradation
[2016-03-13 08:43 PM] wk057: closer to ~0.5% after ~20k miles
[2016-03-13 08:43 PM] FlasherZ: well, I am very happy that it's doing as well as it is... I'm a bit concerned for those folks who have 90 packs and are seeing worse-than-usual reductions though
[2016-03-13 08:44 PM] wk057: I need to get a hold of some 90 cells to test to be sure, but I don't think all of what they're seeing is real degradation... just Tesla's BMS being pessimistic as usual, exaggerated a bit for some reason.
[2016-03-13 08:44 PM] FlasherZ: linear regression from 2 years' worth of data shows -1.5 miles per year
[2016-03-13 08:45 PM] wk057: I've seen CAN data from some 90s that suggests the BMS is definitely way off
[2016-03-13 08:45 PM] FlasherZ: and considering that the curves tend to be more logarithmic than linear, it bodes well for the packs' longevity
[2016-03-13 08:45 PM] wk057: that's pretty good yeah
[2016-03-13 08:46 PM] FlasherZ: well, that's hopeful... I told my wife, after driving the X on a 350 mile round trip, that I would consider trading my Sig for a 100D with AP
[2016-03-13 08:46 PM] FlasherZ: and that's saying something, because the sig fits me like a glove now - I've just gotten it broken in <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:46 PM] wk057: my solar setup pack has the equivalent of roughly 30k miles already and I'm literally showing zero measurable degradation.
[2016-03-13 08:47 PM] FlasherZ: You should start a new pool, Jason... closest to the real # of kWh in a &quot;100&quot; pack <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:47 PM] wk057: hehe
[2016-03-13 08:48 PM] Ulmo: a bit like poking the dragon
[2016-03-13 08:48 PM] wk057: my guess is going to be about 90kWh usable with the pack being about 94-95kWh raw
[2016-03-13 08:48 PM] Ulmo: as long as the dragon laughs
[2016-03-13 08:49 PM] FlasherZ: I like the idea of a 320-mile car (288 on the 90D / 0.9 = 320)
[2016-03-13 08:49 PM] Ulmo: When I was doing my wild crazy calculation, I was thinking the same thing
[2016-03-13 08:49 PM] wk057: it's pretty much guaranteed it won't actually be 100kWh
[2016-03-13 08:49 PM] Ulmo: (94kWh raw)
[2016-03-13 08:49 PM] FlasherZ: that would pretty much mean that I could skip every other SC today. I can do that in the summer but not the winter
[2016-03-13 08:50 PM] wk057: yeah, I'd consider upgrading my P85D to a P100D
[2016-03-13 08:50 PM] Ulmo: 94kWh raw, whatever -- I would like the selling point that sometimes it gets 300 miles range, pretty easily.
[2016-03-13 08:51 PM] wk057: it would be about ~30 more miles of range I'd guess, which would make it so I could always skip two superchargers when leaving my house with 100% charge on my route to NJ
[2016-03-13 08:51 PM] FlasherZ: I just can't see getting P again... don't get me wrong, the X is just... well... ludicrous. but the value isn't there for me and I stretched to pay for it in the X
[2016-03-13 08:52 PM] wk057: well... I can't justify the cost of the P at all.... besides the fact that it's just fun.
[2016-03-13 08:52 PM] FlasherZ: and my P85 is just fine - which is what the 100D should get
[2016-03-13 08:52 PM] wk057: if I traded I would go with a 100D
[2016-03-13 08:52 PM] FlasherZ: especially since the suspensions are now universal
[2016-03-13 08:52 PM] wk057: actually, we'd probably trade the wife's P85 towards a 100D
[2016-03-13 08:52 PM] Ulmo: true unless they software limit it because no P
[2016-03-13 08:53 PM] FlasherZ: well, the 90D today has roughly the same specs as my P85 sig
[2016-03-13 08:53 PM] wk057: yeah
[2016-03-13 08:53 PM] wk057: well, don't get me started on Tesla and their specs madness
[2016-03-13 08:54 PM] FlasherZ: /me stops poking the dragon
[2016-03-13 08:54 PM] Ulmo: Gosh if I got a Ploodl I'd use the performance ... every day, but only a little, and the L --- basically never.
[2016-03-13 08:54 PM] FlasherZ: hey, even /me works... cool.
[2016-03-13 08:54 PM] anxman: I would also go with a 100D. I like my P85D but the performance gain isn't necessary for me any more.
[2016-03-13 08:54 PM] wk057: well, I'd consider a pack swap to a 100 for my P85D, since it'd be cheaper than losses on a trade for sure
[2016-03-13 08:55 PM] FlasherZ: Well, in the X I've found you really want range mode on if you're on any sort of trip
[2016-03-13 08:55 PM] wk057: honestly, I don't like the X at all heh
[2016-03-13 08:55 PM] FlasherZ: well, you don't have 4 boys <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 08:55 PM] wk057: true, but still
[2016-03-13 08:55 PM] wk057: the X seems like a gimmick to me
[2016-03-13 08:56 PM] FlasherZ: I thought it would be &quot;meh&quot; since I was already used to the S
[2016-03-13 08:56 PM] FlasherZ: but the doors... damn are they helpful
[2016-03-13 08:56 PM] FlasherZ: they were smart about the auto-opening driver's door although I'm still nervous about it opening into traffic one day
[2016-03-13 08:57 PM] FlasherZ: frunk is less useful than the RWD S, but more useful than the xD model S
[2016-03-13 08:57 PM] FlasherZ: AP performs better
[2016-03-13 08:57 PM] FlasherZ: doesn't do that bob-and-weave move when you hit a bump
[2016-03-13 08:58 PM] wk057: I see it more like this: basically the same size as the S, has less usable cargo space, less range, slower AC charging... all basically in exchange for upgrading from 5 to 7 seats and a bunch of flashy gimmicks like the doors
[2016-03-13 08:58 PM] FlasherZ: well if all you need is a sedan, I'd probably agree with you
[2016-03-13 08:58 PM] wk057: I mean really, it's a minivan.
[2016-03-13 08:59 PM] FlasherZ: with kids, though, the doors are really really useful
[2016-03-13 08:59 PM] wk057: it's not an SUV. you're not taking the Model X off roading or hauling anything any real distance or otherwise getting more use out of it than you could with an S overall
[2016-03-13 08:59 PM] wk057: well, I can see the doors being useful, but I cant see them being more useful than a minivan door
[2016-03-13 09:00 PM] wk057: I don't have kids, so, maybe I'll change my tune in a few years
[2016-03-13 09:00 PM] bonnie: The S is certainly perfect for a lot of people. I thought the doors were gimmicky too ... until I lived with them 24 hours
[2016-03-13 09:00 PM] wk057: o/ bonnie
[2016-03-13 09:00 PM] bonnie: I don't have small kids anymore - but just wheeling a cart up in the parking lot
[2016-03-13 09:01 PM] bonnie: no dance around the cart vs. doors
[2016-03-13 09:01 PM] wk057: I just use the trunk <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:01 PM] wk057: but yeah, that's cool I suppose
[2016-03-13 09:01 PM] bonnie: i think the X works for a lot of people - but if you're of the mindset 'just a glorified minivan' then clearly not for you <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:02 PM] wk057: I am, so yeah... definitely not for me. hehe
[2016-03-13 09:02 PM] bonnie: and that's fine ... eventually tesla will have many models to choose from &amp; people will get what works best for them
[2016-03-13 09:02 PM] FlasherZ: Plus you can't do this: Craig Huegen on Twitter
[2016-03-13 09:02 PM] bonnie: i personally love the X, wasn't sure if I would nor not
[2016-03-13 09:02 PM] wk057: can you drive with the doors open?
[2016-03-13 09:02 PM] FlasherZ: yes
[2016-03-13 09:03 PM] FlasherZ: although it gives you that three-door chime
[2016-03-13 09:03 PM] FlasherZ: err, three-bong
[2016-03-13 09:03 PM] FlasherZ: Philip Scherry on Twitter
[2016-03-13 09:03 PM] FlasherZ: (video there of the parade)
[2016-03-13 09:03 PM] wk057: fun stuff. put a few flaps on the doors and prepare for takeoff <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:03 PM] pox: I'm considering trading my S for and X
[2016-03-13 09:04 PM] wk057: well, whenever Tesla needs to drum up demand they just need to release a pickup truck
[2016-03-13 09:05 PM] FlasherZ: around here, they could sell boatloads of the Model X if they could do some value engineering <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:05 PM] FlasherZ: the number of Chevy Traverses that get sold here is staggering
[2016-03-13 09:05 PM] wk057: an electric Chevy S10 equivalent with ~250 miles of range would fly off the shelves
[2016-03-13 09:05 PM] wk057: F150 equivalent would be even better.
[2016-03-13 09:05 PM] FlasherZ: they'd have to hit a good price point though
[2016-03-13 09:06 PM] FlasherZ: S-10 sold well because it was cheap cheap cheap and it lasted forever
[2016-03-13 09:06 PM] wk057: pretty much
[2016-03-13 09:07 PM] wk057: my uncle wants me to help him do a truck EV conversion. he hauls a boat about 60 miles per day (round trip). could definitely do that with a Tesla power train
[2016-03-13 09:07 PM] FlasherZ: my dad's wouldn't die. good 4x4 hunting truck
[2016-03-13 09:07 PM] FlasherZ: there are 3 Ranger conversions in the St. Louis area
[2016-03-13 09:07 PM] wk057: most conversions I've seen weren't really built for range
[2016-03-13 09:08 PM] FlasherZ: those Ranger conversions were 80 miles with lead-acid
[2016-03-13 09:08 PM] FlasherZ: half the bed lost to big batteries
[2016-03-13 09:09 PM] wk057: yeah, forget that
[2016-03-13 09:09 PM] wk057: could get 80 miles out of 5 or 6 Tesla modules from an 85 pack
[2016-03-13 09:09 PM] wk057: would take up virtually no space
[2016-03-13 09:10 PM] FlasherZ: I try not to think about it, for that aforementioned lack-of-time-or-space-for-new-projects reason <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:10 PM] wk057: I've got a drag car on the drawing board
[2016-03-13 09:10 PM] FlasherZ: I still have that 1937 Wayne gas pump I need to fit up with HPWC gunts
[2016-03-13 09:10 PM] FlasherZ: guts
[2016-03-13 09:11 PM] wk057: two Tesla rear drive units, 3 chevy volt battery packs.
[2016-03-13 09:12 PM] wk057: should be able to pull about 750kW lol
[2016-03-13 09:13 PM] FlasherZ: and some thick thick cables <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:14 PM] M67v: How do people get release candidate Model S'?
[2016-03-13 09:14 PM] FlasherZ: You don't. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:15 PM] wk057: actually, the Volt packs have way lower IR than Tesla's. something like 8x lower. So, 750kW is going to be around ~2kA
[2016-03-13 09:15 PM] FlasherZ: (Tesla does its own testing and while employees are spotted driving about in test cars, customers aren't part of the testing unless you include Signature buyers.)
[2016-03-13 09:15 PM] FlasherZ: From a software perspective there are reports of beta testers, but it's well known that they have to sign NDA agreements.
[2016-03-13 09:16 PM] FlasherZ: Well, I look forward to your posts on the topic, Jason... <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:16 PM] wk057: yeah, probably getting started this summer
[2016-03-13 09:17 PM] FlasherZ: and with that, I think it's time to go climb in my bed and hope that our reputations are still secure tomorrow when TMC comes back up
[2016-03-13 09:17 PM] wk057: the customer beta testers arent really beta testing though. more like release candidates, IMO
[2016-03-13 09:17 PM] wk057: yeah, if they totally ditch the old rep that's going to be very disappointing <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-13 09:18 PM] FlasherZ: I had 2581, good for 3rd place
[2016-03-13 09:18 PM] FlasherZ: and the third-tier catalog
[2016-03-13 09:18 PM] FlasherZ: bonnie bought them out of ponies but they had other good stuff left
[2016-03-13 09:19 PM] wk057: 3396 here
[2016-03-13 09:19 PM] wk057: wonder how far I was from bonnie
[2016-03-13 09:19 PM] wk057: based on her rep power I estimated she's at over 5k
[2016-03-13 09:20 PM] FlasherZ: well, I reached my goal - pass Nigel
[2016-03-13 09:20 PM] wk057: I didnt have a goal. lol.
[2016-03-13 09:20 PM] wk057: I only found out there was a list sorted by rep like, a month ago.
[2016-03-13 09:20 PM] FlasherZ: so I don't really care if they go to something else. honestly, I preferred the scores generated by some of the like/thanks modules
[2016-03-13 09:20 PM] M67v: Gyazo - 28e9d00279c3d798938da0ae27f98117.png
[2016-03-13 09:21 PM] wk057: personally, I think disapproving should have been enabled too, but that's me
[2016-03-13 09:21 PM] FlasherZ: it used to be, but it was misused
[2016-03-13 09:21 PM] wk057: as is everything on the internet
[2016-03-13 09:21 PM] FlasherZ: I used to get negative hits all the time for telling people not to jury-rig stuff
[2016-03-13 09:22 PM] FlasherZ: they wanted their freedom to use 18 AWG thermostat wire to charge at 80A
[2016-03-13 09:22 PM] wk057: haha
[2016-03-13 09:23 PM] wk057: well on that note.... think I'm off. guess we'll find out tomorrow what the verdict is
[2016-03-13 09:23 PM] M67v: @wk057 Are you refering to my link to an image?
[2016-03-13 09:23 PM] FlasherZ: see you, Jason
[2016-03-13 09:23 PM] FlasherZ: me too... g'night all
[2016-03-13 09:23 PM] wk057: @M67v nope
[2016-03-13 09:23 PM] wk057: adios, gn all
[2016-03-13 09:25 PM] M67v: boi
[2016-03-13 10:23 PM] samleemc: Anyone know what is going on with the ChaDeMo adaptor??
[2016-03-13 10:49 PM] Camera-Cruiser: The worst noise in my Tesla, why the can of almonds rolling back and forth behind the seats. And you?
[2016-03-13 11:02 PM] EMP40: Why does my account seem to be blocked from profile updates or posts/replies?
[2016-03-13 11:24 PM] FredTMC: Is TMC ever coming back up again?!
[2016-03-13 11:28 PM] Chris TX: Maybe
[2016-03-13 11:31 PM] FredTMC: Why &quot;maybe&quot;? Why maintenance taking so long? This is unexpected
[2016-03-14 12:09 AM] markwj: @Chris TX: Not helpful
[2016-03-14 12:10 AM] markwj: @FredTMC: Yes. The maintenance is taking so long presumably because there is a lot to do, and a lot of data to migrate. Remember TeslaMotors recently took down their forums for a week.
[2016-03-14 12:12 AM] Johan: Crossing my fingers here that everything is going well for doug
[2016-03-14 12:36 AM] markwj: As to 'unexpected', the big red-and-yellow announcement points to this like:
[2016-03-14 12:36 AM] markwj: TMC going down for maintenance
[2016-03-14 12:37 AM] markwj: &quot;We'll be going down for planned maintenance tonight 2016/3/12 at 8pm PST (2016/3/13 at 4am UTC). If all goes well, we'll be back up by Monday morning.&quot;
[2016-03-14 01:29 AM] JER: memberlist.php now protected?
[2016-03-14 01:42 AM] robertvg: Hopefully back up soon again <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 01:43 AM] robertvg: And curious what will change...
[2016-03-14 02:22 AM] csshih: <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 03:13 AM] Ames: New update just received; 7.1 2.17.17. Nothing new in the release notes so I'mg guessing bug fixes
[2016-03-14 03:13 AM] Ames: Make that 2.14.17
[2016-03-14 04:22 AM] chriSharek: I'm in Transit and going crazy!
[2016-03-14 04:23 AM] chriSharek: 7-14 days!!!!!!
[2016-03-14 04:23 AM] chriSharek: And I can't use TMC as the drug to treat my condition!
[2016-03-14 04:28 AM] ArtInCT: What is UP!
[2016-03-14 04:30 AM] vortexz: Hey guys did you knew that mercedes CLA has a 0.22 CDA ?
[2016-03-14 04:30 AM] vortexz: therefore it is very possible for the Model 3 to get lower than 0.22
[2016-03-14 04:31 AM] vortexz: remove the front grille and make a few tweaks here and there and voilla you have 0.2 CDA
[2016-03-14 04:32 AM] chriSharek: I'm dying over here . . . in transit.
[2016-03-14 04:49 AM] jaguar36: Wow, still down
[2016-03-14 05:00 AM] JER: I guess Doug is still in That Place. <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 05:12 AM] houdini: still down?
[2016-03-14 05:14 AM] jaguar36: Yep
[2016-03-14 05:25 AM] SW2Fiddler: Hi Mike
[2016-03-14 05:30 AM] LargeHamCollider: But does the CLA *actually* have a .cd of .22? Or does it have a .cd of .22 only under very specific and rare conditions? I don't trust Merc to accurately report this.
[2016-03-14 05:33 AM] jaguar36: Cd doesn't ever change, its not like a MPG number.
[2016-03-14 05:35 AM] jaguar36: Regardless, Car and Driver measured the US CLA250 at 0.30
[2016-03-14 05:35 AM] markwj: After months of fighting with transport department in Hong Kong, today we got an update enabling the missing autosteer and autolanechange functions. Yay! Well done, Tesla HK. It took Elon coming over to talk to government, to get it done, but progress...
[2016-03-14 05:42 AM] LargeHamCollider: Yes .cd does change and drastically, as Reynolds number increases various parts of the vehicle trip from laminar to turbulent various parts enter the Von Karman Vortex street. Affecting downstream parts etc. etc. don't think .cd is static.
[2016-03-14 05:55 AM] Ames: Congratulations Hong Kongers!
[2016-03-14 05:56 AM] Ames: Here's a tip to those who got Autopilot on a new car; try TACC without Autopilot - it's still pretty awesome if you're not comfortable with the steering.
[2016-03-14 05:56 AM] jaguar36: Sure, sure, if you're driving in water, or going up near 600mph its going to change... at normal speeds and temps/humidity its constant. More likely there are configuarion differences between the CLA 180 BlueEfficiency Edition and the CLA 250 in the US.
[2016-03-14 05:57 AM] jaguar36: Like specifically, the active grill shutters.
[2016-03-14 05:59 AM] chriSharek: Does the MS have active grill shutters, Jaguar?
[2016-03-14 05:59 AM] jaguar36: Naw, talking about the Mercedes CLA
[2016-03-14 06:00 AM] techmaven: Model S has active shutters for the radiators
[2016-03-14 06:00 AM] techmaven: Baird upgrade this morning... premarket is over $210
[2016-03-14 06:02 AM] LargeHamCollider: Most relevant .cd changes will occur at very low speeds... though if one gets into the compressible regime ... There will be significant changes as well.
[2016-03-14 06:07 AM] tinm: Is TMC switching to different forum software, or is this a hardware upgrade or... what exactly?
[2016-03-14 06:28 AM] bmah: Happy Pi Day, all.
[2016-03-14 06:30 AM] blakegallagher: Nice techmaven
[2016-03-14 06:45 AM] garygid: Pi moment 1:59:26 local time?
[2016-03-14 06:45 AM] MileHighMotoring: Happy Pi Day, Teslaritos
[2016-03-14 06:58 AM] mmccord: TMC maintenance is running on Elon time.
[2016-03-14 07:07 AM] tinm: Hey if TMC maintenance is at all helping push the stock higher, I say, keep the site down <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /> Onwards to $300!
[2016-03-14 07:10 AM] supratachophobia: Are we still down this morning?
[2016-03-14 07:11 AM] MileHighMotoring: Yesir
[2016-03-14 07:11 AM] supratachophobia: Hey WATTS-UP, did you get my text?
[2016-03-14 07:17 AM] supratachophobia: Hey Buckeye, are you in the Central Ohio area
[2016-03-14 07:22 AM] jaguar36: The thread just said they'd be back up monday morning, so they still have like 5 hours to hit that.
[2016-03-14 07:23 AM] techmaven: monday morning, what time zone?
[2016-03-14 07:24 AM] jaguar36: They didn't specify, but I think they are in PST
[2016-03-14 07:24 AM] SW2Fiddler: Nope! It's be PDT now <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 07:25 AM] jaguar36: Bah, stupid DST.
[2016-03-14 07:25 AM] SW2Fiddler: My body agrees.
[2016-03-14 07:27 AM] Johan: Yeah we didn't change to DST here yet, so now the stock market opens one hour earlier from my perspective...
[2016-03-14 07:29 AM] scaesare: Must... have...TMC...fix....
[2016-03-14 07:30 AM] Drucifer: I WANT MY MTV!
[2016-03-14 07:30 AM] Drucifer: I mean TMC!
[2016-03-14 07:47 AM] cman8: when will the site be up. Im getting the cold sweats already
[2016-03-14 07:53 AM] FredTMC: Ya. Let's go TMC!
[2016-03-14 07:54 AM] JER: I don't doubt Doug is sweating more than us at this juncture.
[2016-03-14 07:56 AM] elguapo: I thought it was coming back up Monday morning. I need my fix!
[2016-03-14 07:57 AM] elguapo: My hands are shaking...
[2016-03-14 07:57 AM] robertvg: Hey Doug, it's way past Monday Morning in EU <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 08:01 AM] Robecology: Trying to post about rubber trim on Tesla S roof being eaten by birds; what's a good way to avoid/prevent, what can/should Tesla do/ etc
[2016-03-14 08:16 AM] JRP3: TSLA moving up while oil is going down, and TMC is offline!!!!1111 <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 08:17 AM] jaguar36: Birds are eating the rubber?!?!
[2016-03-14 08:25 AM] DrComputer: I guess like most technical upgrades, the TMC one didn't go as planned.
[2016-03-14 08:26 AM] CTemp222: Is TSLA up just because of analysts upgrading the stock or is there something more going on?
[2016-03-14 08:29 AM] Thumper: Big price jump, good volume, uncoupled from oil, and us without our forum. Woe is me.
[2016-03-14 08:30 AM] Blip: &quot;TSLA has picked up 2.4% this morning at $212.48, following an upgrade to &quot;outperform&quot; from &quot;neutral&quot; at Baird -- which likewise lifted its price target to $300 from $230, representing all-time-high territory&quot; (Schaeffer's Investment Research - Home)
[2016-03-14 08:33 AM] ModelNforNerd: In my branch of IT, we call what is currently happening on this upgrade a &quot;failed rollout&quot;, and would be scrambling to revert back to last week's code.....
[2016-03-14 08:45 AM] vortexz: TMC dead forever <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 08:46 AM] schonelucht: TSLA is up because the shorts can't get their message across with TMC down? <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 08:50 AM] jaguar36: TMC still has ~3hours to meet their target
[2016-03-14 08:56 AM] Trev Page: Still down I see. I wonder what they're upgrading...
[2016-03-14 08:58 AM] JER: This upgrade being performed to Tesla scheduling standards. <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 08:59 AM] TheTalkingMule: Oil down 4%, TSLA/SCTY/world markets up. Are we starting to decouple from oil perhaps?
[2016-03-14 09:00 AM] MartinAustin: testing!!!
[2016-03-14 09:01 AM] doug: It's still morning on the west coast. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:03 AM] LST: just wondering: volume is around 1.3 mio, IMO not very high, but what an action... on no news.. shorts covering ?
[2016-03-14 09:05 AM] Johan: Hey doug, nice to see you're calm and in control <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:05 AM] hockeythug: There was an analyst price upgrade.
[2016-03-14 09:06 AM] JER: Short interest supposedly at an all-time high on TSLA last I heard. Maybe a short squeeze is beginning?
[2016-03-14 09:06 AM] LST: You mean Bairds ?... they ripping it apart on SA ; ))
[2016-03-14 09:08 AM] hockeythug: I guess they recently visited the factory as well?
[2016-03-14 09:15 AM] Hogfighter: I need my TMC!!
[2016-03-14 09:16 AM] dc_h: TMC down, TSLA up? New correlation?
[2016-03-14 09:19 AM] wk057: so, hows the migration going?
[2016-03-14 09:20 AM] wk057: need any testers for the new TMC? <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:24 AM] Hogfighter: wk057, please tell me you aren't behind this...
[2016-03-14 09:24 AM] wk057: behind what? whatever it is, it's not my fault this time <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:25 AM] Oloron: Anyone hear any updates on when things are likely to be back up? (Just curious, best to be done well and slowly than unstable and fast!)
[2016-03-14 09:25 AM] FlasherZ: Years ago, I used to run UNIX shell machines (everything from a Linux 0.99 box on a SLIP connection from my dorm through a monster system directly connected to the backbones) and gave away free accounts to acquaintenances.
[2016-03-14 09:26 AM] FlasherZ: It amazed me, but probably shouldn't have, that I would get calls at 2:45 a.m. asking me to fix the free service that I offered. Not &quot;hey, things are down,&quot; but &quot;hey, fix my free stuff&quot;
[2016-03-14 09:26 AM] FlasherZ: That plus the numerous subpoenas (grand juries and 18 USC 2703 secret orders) made me give that up.
[2016-03-14 09:27 AM] FlasherZ: So doug -- keep slogging at it, we're all behind you -- and no pressure. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:27 AM] 1208: <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" /> :
[2016-03-14 09:27 AM] dc_h: is there a tech bridge?
[2016-03-14 09:28 AM] FlasherZ: You're not on the P1 updates list?
[2016-03-14 09:28 AM] dc_h: thank god for that!
[2016-03-14 09:29 AM] Oloron: Yeah, fasherz - it's amazing how quickly people can feel entitled to something free.
[2016-03-14 09:29 AM] FlasherZ: (Oh yeah, and on the note of the free systems, I would just like to give a 2-decades-old craptastic shout-out to Maxtor for ruining many weekends for me. Yay!)
[2016-03-14 09:31 AM] Johan: you guys obviously never donate <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:31 AM] FlasherZ: Johan: I can edit my first post in my threads. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:31 AM] dc_h: I had the honor of supporting Novell backups with Palyndrome. I had every screen and line of code memorized, so I could support at 3:00 am on the phone without opening my eyes
[2016-03-14 09:32 AM] dc_h: Maxtor, hysterical
[2016-03-14 09:35 AM] wk057: FlasherZ: think that will still work on the &quot;new&quot; TMC?
[2016-03-14 09:36 AM] wk057: there hasn't been much info on what the updates/changes will entail
[2016-03-14 09:37 AM] FlasherZ: I sure hope the platform is capable of doing that; otherwise, I'll convert the FAQ back to a community model and watch as every Tom, Jane, and Sue gets to tell you that that 18 AWG thermostat wire is just fine.
[2016-03-14 09:37 AM] glhs272: Doug were are rooting for you! Upgrades always come with a little pain <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:38 AM] wk057: 18 AWG is overkill. I charge my car with 40 AWG magnet wire
[2016-03-14 09:38 AM] wk057: <img src="images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Rolleyes" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:38 AM] ibcs: Anyone have an ETA on when the board comes back to normal?
[2016-03-14 09:39 AM] glhs272: About an hour after it's done
[2016-03-14 09:40 AM] FlasherZ: Hey, at least 18 AWG has a fusing current of 82A <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:41 AM] FlasherZ: You only get 2 amps, IIRC, with #40
[2016-03-14 09:41 AM] FlasherZ: maybe less
[2016-03-14 09:41 AM] glhs272: Aren't the wires supposed to glow like a light bulb? That means there &quot;on&quot;, right?
[2016-03-14 09:42 AM] wk057: I should do a video of trying to charge at 80A through thermostat wiring
[2016-03-14 09:42 AM] FlasherZ: glhs: I was just going to do some calculations on using tungsten wire instead <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:42 AM] dc_h: For status updates you can call the management team bridge at (202) 456-7041. Passcode Barry.
[2016-03-14 09:43 AM] SBenson: Wall Street Tours the Tesla Factory—and Loves What It Sees
[2016-03-14 09:44 AM] SBenson: Link above is a good progress report on the factory
[2016-03-14 09:44 AM] MileHighMotoring: This is a very long update just to let us edit our posts again <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:46 AM] FlasherZ: So Jason - charging finished last night with no appreciable shift in rated range
[2016-03-14 09:46 AM] wk057: I didn't figure it would.
[2016-03-14 09:46 AM] FlasherZ: Finsihed with 258.3 miles. My peak - when it arrives in April / May - should be around 262-263
[2016-03-14 09:47 AM] FlasherZ: that represents last year's 264 minus the expected 1.5 miles
[2016-03-14 09:47 AM] wk057: the capacity estimates are averaged over some large number of joules
[2016-03-14 09:47 AM] FlasherZ: I'm still impressed it continued to sit at 0 miles with the A/C compressor and heat running for nearly 30 minutes
[2016-03-14 09:47 AM] FlasherZ: and that's when I gave up and started charging
[2016-03-14 09:48 AM] wk057: or coulombs or whatever they use internally as a unit
[2016-03-14 09:49 AM] wk057: if you had a CAN logger and could grab the resting pack voltage at a few SoC I could compare to my individual cell data and come up with an estimate of the BMS's error
[2016-03-14 09:49 AM] wk057: other than that... *shrugs*
[2016-03-14 09:50 AM] FlasherZ: I don't. Maybe I need to get Bill to send me one. He wants me to put it on the X, but until they have the new connector ready my wife isn't interested in a dodgy wiring harness under the dash <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:51 AM] wk057: yeah, I haven't messed with the new connector yet, although i've seen the adapter Tesla uses for it
[2016-03-14 09:51 AM] jaguar36: Just wrap it all in heat shrink and it won't look dodgy at all.
[2016-03-14 09:54 AM] FlasherZ: Maybe I shouldn't worry about it and just continue to live in bliss that my pack is doing better than most out there
[2016-03-14 09:54 AM] FlasherZ: (even if, under the covers, they're all the same)
[2016-03-14 09:54 AM] dc_h: Bloomberg article is very positive. Model 3 planning giving manufacturing equal voice with finance and engineering.
[2016-03-14 09:56 AM] hockeythug: Kind of disappointing that wasn't being done before now.
[2016-03-14 09:57 AM] FlasherZ: It was with the other models, too, but perhaps they're doing it a bit earlier now
[2016-03-14 09:58 AM] napabill: It takes this much time to set the sites clocks back an hour? <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 09:59 AM] andrewket: I just now discovered the chat box? How's this possible.
[2016-03-14 09:59 AM] FlasherZ: Jason: I started looking at the charts in detail, the charger was drawing 79A for 5 minutes before the car started to show an increase from 0.0 miles.
[2016-03-14 09:59 AM] FlasherZ: 79A charging at 19:15, 0.7 rated miles at 19:20
[2016-03-14 10:00 AM] andrewket: argh, work conference call. I'll bback
[2016-03-14 10:01 AM] andrewket: hm, nobody else on the bridge yet. So do we know where doug is on the update?
[2016-03-14 10:01 AM] FlasherZ: disclaiming that it's morning PDT. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 10:02 AM] FlasherZ: he says he has 2 hours yet, hold tight <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 10:03 AM] Tenable: Apologies if this has been answered, but when is the forum coming back up? I thought it stated it would be back yesterday?
[2016-03-14 10:03 AM] FlasherZ: Jason: also one tidbit - from the streaming API data collection, the car reports that 76.5 kWh was put into the battery from 0.0
[2016-03-14 10:03 AM] FlasherZ: Tenable: target was &quot;Monday morning&quot;.
[2016-03-14 10:04 AM] FlasherZ: Energy and speed plot, starting 3/13/2016. Total energy expended 38Wh, Total energy regen 76484Wh. Maximum charge power: 19.1 kW (242 V / 79 A or ~ 58.4 miles/hour)
[2016-03-14 10:04 AM] wk057: 76.5 kWh is usable energy of a relatively new pack
[2016-03-14 10:05 AM] FlasherZ: Not bad for 55k miles then.
[2016-03-14 10:07 AM] FlasherZ: I'll see if I can clear up some space in my projects bin for some CAN collection on that pack for you.
[2016-03-14 10:13 AM] ibcs: Thanks - Ghs272 appreciate the time frame. I'm having short term trading withdrawal.
[2016-03-14 10:15 AM] Skotty: Good day, everyone. Got my loan approved today for my CPO Model S.
[2016-03-14 10:16 AM] geneclean55: Some very interesting news coming out today after analysts visit to Fremont. Hope this site is back up soon <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 10:16 AM] K-MTG: Anyone upgrade their Model X order from 70D to 90D?
[2016-03-14 10:16 AM] Skotty: What news?
[2016-03-14 10:17 AM] hockeythug: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ours-the-tesla-factory-and-loves-what-it-sees
[2016-03-14 10:19 AM] Rocky_H: I wonder if they are fixing that problem where the forum loses your login every few minutes.
[2016-03-14 10:24 AM] SW2Fiddler: Congrats @Skotty !
[2016-03-14 10:25 AM] Twiglett: nice! congrats @Skotty !
[2016-03-14 10:26 AM] Twiglett: so we are the truly desperate <img src="images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Biggrin" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 10:27 AM] FlasherZ: Great to hear, Skotty, now you get to come to St. Louis in an awesome car to visit us
[2016-03-14 10:27 AM] tinm: That Bloomberg article is misleading (what? an article about Tesla that misleads? never!). It gives the impression that the Model 3 is &quot;launching&quot; on March 31st and that the factory is getting ready now to build the Model 3. C'mon, Bloomberg.
[2016-03-14 10:27 AM] tinm: Actually to be fair to Bloomberg, if you read closely, what is happening on March 31st is a &quot;laumch&quot; not a &quot;launch&quot; (go read the article! that's what it says, laumch)
[2016-03-14 10:28 AM] TWBC: I'm in TMC withdraw
[2016-03-14 10:29 AM] 21miDay: &quot;laumch&quot; LAUMAO!
[2016-03-14 10:32 AM] JER: Laumch deferred due to ramge saftey issues.
[2016-03-14 10:35 AM] glhs272: I think everyone here is in TMC withdrawl, clawing at the chatbox in hopes of getting their fix
[2016-03-14 10:35 AM] TWBC: I agree
[2016-03-14 10:36 AM] TWBC: I just changed the color of my Model X from Black to Blue.
[2016-03-14 10:37 AM] TWBC: I hope it doesn't delay delivery
[2016-03-14 10:37 AM] TWBC: It is still scheduled to be built this month, so we will see.
[2016-03-14 10:40 AM] TWBC: Doug didn't say what Monday morning TMC would be back
[2016-03-14 10:40 AM] Nvbob: Patience is a virtue
[2016-03-14 10:41 AM] K-MTG: @TWBC do you know how log before the changes appear on mytesla? I changed my 70D to a 90D and they messed up and resubmitted my order as a 70D again
[2016-03-14 10:41 AM] TWBC: Patience is not my best skill
[2016-03-14 10:42 AM] TWBC: I like instant gratification
[2016-03-14 10:42 AM] Russell B: With the maintenance, am I unable to post a Tesla for sale?
[2016-03-14 10:43 AM] TWBC: I don't know. Why are you selling Russell?
[2016-03-14 10:43 AM] Nvbob:
[2016-03-14 10:43 AM] Russell B: X delivery in two weeks
[2016-03-14 10:44 AM] TWBC: That is a great reason! Congrats! I hope to have my X next month!
[2016-03-14 10:44 AM] TWBC: Post pics when you get it!
[2016-03-14 10:44 AM] jsollender: when is forum coming back up?
[2016-03-14 10:47 AM] Russell B: thanks. expecting the maintenance to be complete today per a general post, then I can pitch my MS. Cheers.
[2016-03-14 10:48 AM] TWBC: @K-MTG They said about 1 week after the change is made. I called today and they said that the production manager approved it this morning, so I don't expect to see My Tesla reflect the change until next Monday.
[2016-03-14 10:49 AM] K-MTG: Anyone here have an answer/similar experience: https://forums.teslamotors.com/forum/forums/anyone-upgrade-70d-90d
[2016-03-14 10:49 AM] glhs272: uninformed guesstimate: 1.75 hours
[2016-03-14 10:49 AM] Ryan H: Doug has another hour and 11 minutes until it is no longer morning in California <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 10:49 AM] K-MTG: @TWBC do you already have a VIN?
[2016-03-14 10:53 AM] TWBC: @K-MTG Yes 1001
[2016-03-14 10:54 AM] TWBC: It is a P90DL fully loaded
[2016-03-14 10:55 AM] K-MTG: @TWBC I spoke with Timothy when I changed my order to a 90D he said he submitted the changes but no changes were made so I am worried that this may delay my order.
[2016-03-14 10:56 AM] K-MTG: I confirmed a 70D back in January but I would assume that won't matter when my order is changed to a 90, if it does get changed
[2016-03-14 10:57 AM] chriSharek: Scheduled delivery appointment for next Friday. The wait is killing me!
[2016-03-14 10:58 AM] K-MTG: @chriSharek what did you order?
[2016-03-14 10:58 AM] dirkhh: Firmware 2.14.17 already has 15 reports... anyone know what's new / changed? Or is this Yet Another Random Bugfix Release?
[2016-03-14 11:00 AM] dirkhh: possibly summon added in new regions... most of the installs in Europe / Asia...
[2016-03-14 11:06 AM] Electricfan: why is the site still down? any juicy rumors?
[2016-03-14 11:06 AM] glhs272: Heard on NPR Volkswagen was very busy destroying and deleting documents related to dieselgate. Some employees protested and were immediately fired. Lots of cover up going on.
[2016-03-14 11:14 AM] chriSharek: 90D for me!
[2016-03-14 11:14 AM] wolfson292: Can the DS's no longer tell how a vehicle is being shipped? My status changed online a week ago and DS still won't respond to me with an estimated date for arrival at SC.
[2016-03-14 11:15 AM] chriSharek: KMTG, I would go for the 90D if you can! I thought long and hard about this decision.
[2016-03-14 11:15 AM] chriSharek: Wife likes the heat on her back and the AC on!
[2016-03-14 11:16 AM] chriSharek: My DS Cameron in Tampa has been AWESOME!
[2016-03-14 11:16 AM] chriSharek: Looks like my delivery is 3/25.
[2016-03-14 11:17 AM] wolfson292: We have the same DS, so very odd.
[2016-03-14 11:17 AM] mkjayakumar: Any updates please on this site maintenance? when will it be back online? - thank you
[2016-03-14 11:19 AM] K-MTG: @chriSharek I am trying to switch to a 90D but tesla has trouble making the change. I am still waiting for their respond When did you confirm?
[2016-03-14 11:23 AM] mkjayakumar: Thanks for the update.. looks the site will be down for a loong time..
[2016-03-14 11:25 AM] bmah: /me notes there's still about 35 minutes left in &quot;Monday morning&quot; here in California.
[2016-03-14 11:27 AM] andrewket: do we have an update from doug?
[2016-03-14 11:32 AM] pvogel: @bmah, Tesla Time there's still 3days and 28 minutes left in Monday Morning in California <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 11:35 AM] bmah: @pvogel: <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
[2016-03-14 11:37 AM] pvogel: I also note on the thread he didn't say *which* Monday morning
[2016-03-14 11:39 AM] pvogel: Having been through this kind of thing before, sometimes stuff takes longer than you expect! When it's a hobby thing like TMC it's even more unpredictable. It took us years where I work to get to predictable downtime and zero downtime releases.
[2016-03-14 11:41 AM] bmah: That's very true...I've done some sysadmin-type operations where I gave what I thought was a nice, conservative estimate, but it ended up taking way longer, even though in the end everything worked just fine.
[2016-03-14 11:42 AM] pvogel: Especially with a massive forum like this, the amount of data that might need to be migrated if there's a DB shift can make the time prediction very difficult. You do a little test run and try to project out the time, but it's not always linear!
[2016-03-14 11:42 AM] chriSharek: @ KMTG, I confrimed a long time ago. BUT, if you are upgrading, you would think they would like to let you spend more of your money!
[2016-03-14 11:43 AM] chriSharek: I used the 85 vs 90 decision to my advantage when that came up. I had ordered an 85. They forced me to pay the upgrade or take an 85 early.
[2016-03-14 11:43 AM] doug: Ok. I'll be doing the switch over soon. There's more to do, but things should be basically working now, while I take a nap. The interface is a bit different and will take some getting used to, but it is overall better.
[2016-03-14 11:43 AM] chriSharek: Instead, I'm actually paying the upgrade AND taking it early!
[2016-03-14 11:44 AM] chriSharek: Thanks for your efforts Doug!
[2016-03-14 11:44 AM] 30seconds: awesome doug. thank you!
[2016-03-14 11:45 AM] pvogel: Nice work Doug! Thanks for your efforts!
[2016-03-14 11:46 AM] hockeythug: Nice. Can't wait to see the changes.
[2016-03-14 11:48 AM] jaguar36: Thanks Doug!
[2016-03-14 11:48 AM] bmah: doug, that's great news, many thanks!
[2016-03-14 11:54 AM] SW2Fiddler: night-night Doug!
