I just got my Model S 75D FSD and Infotainment system upgraded yesterday (6/22) at the Fremont Service Center for $2500 plus Tax. I had AP 2.5 with MCU 1. All the reviews I read shows that I would be getting a new display yet when I picked up my car, I realized they did not replace my main display. Also my new software would download to 100% but will not install. I experienced the new COVID-19 service procedure where everything was done without seeing anyone. Everything was done through text which I appreciate, but I was not able to get any response after I picked up my car and immediately text them about the old display...

Yeah, there's no main screen replacement in this package. I think that's a common misconception.

This is purely the brain behind the screen (though another person mentioned that the screen behind the steering wheel is upgraded...I wasn't aware of that).

...I think that's a common misconception...

The article clearly says:

"You do get a new MCU screen. Mine still had the plastic protective wrap on it which I remove when I got into the vehicle."

Not only that but also:

"You do get a new IC screen."

But it's possible that early bird gets the worm so it might only be true for the article but no longer true after that.

Interesting. My local SC actually told me no screens whatsoever, just the brain. So the IC screen was a shock. If it's both screens PLUS the brain, that's a moderately decent deal, even for AP1 folks like me.

Either way, another lovely case of poor communication within Tesla!

Ok... after numerous back and forth messages, they finally cleared it up. I was given 2 options:
1) get 10% off (of the $2,000) I paid.
2) bring my car in to have the LCD replaced.

Of course I'm taking option 2 :)

I am STILL waiting on my MCU2 upgrade. My 2018 Model S was delivered late February 2018. Parts were ordered for my car in June of 2020. So far, only 2 things have been shipped and delivered but nothing of significance. I still get the same email TWICE A WEEK but nothing new. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT?

I did my infotainment upgrade for my 2017 about a month ago. They gave me a new touchscreen. My old screen had the yellow bands on the sides so maybe the new screen was part of the warranty. As far as losing AM/FM and satellite, I’m okay with that as I can still get my radio stations using Tune-In which is part of the vehicle. As for my 2014 with AP1, there’s no option to upgrade the infotainment yet.

Is your HomeLink configuration preserved without a need to reprogram it to an automatic garage door system again?

In many cases, Homelink settings, streaming favorites, are saved. Browser favorites are lost. The SC told me that settings are not saved in all cases. I believe other preferences are saved but I went through all my settings and made sure anyway.

I just got my car back from the upgrade. So much faster. The web browser works! I thought all my info would be lost in doing the upgrade, my homelink and seat settings remained, web bookmarks were gone, as were the Bluetooth settings.

So far I'm very happy with it.

I got the Infotainment upgrade ($2500 + 10% sales tax) in early November 2020 and I got a NEW TOUCHSCREEN.
The Homelink recognized that it was in front of the closed garage door, it chimed, but it didn't open the door. It didn't shut the door when I was leaving the house either. I had to reprogram the Homelink just as I did when I first got my car but that's very easy to do.
