Today's Roadster Orphan

Hi, I am new to this forum, I dont own a roadster (or a Tesla) but I am thinking of buying one. I have been doing some research on the site and I was wondering if any of you guys had any info on the below 2 roadsters for sale. I am looking for something approx 40k and they both seem to fit the bill, just suspicious as they are a lot cheaper than some of the others. Thanks for any help

I think it was always in Indiana. Seems like it could be a good deal.

Where did you notice #464 for sale? I think it was first in Georgia, then moved to Texas and sold on eBay from Austin TX a couple years ago.

You do have to be careful when shopping online for Roadsters. Sometimes people have fake advertisements with old pictures scraped from ebay.
I suggest you try to see the car in person before giving anyone any money.

Watch out for other scams, like them asking for deposit money to hold it because "someone else wants to buy it",
or asking you to pay shipping so they can send you the car for a test drive.
Also, I would walk away from a deal where the "owner" says they got transferred overseas and wants you to deal with them from another country.

OK, I think I saw those same pictures on a listing about 3 years ago, also in Austin.

So maybe one of these:

#1: It didn't sell before, and has been relisted after some time?
#2: Someone else in Austin bought it before and is re-using the old photos for the new listing?
#3: Someone has made a fake ad?

I would just use a little extra caution on that one.
Best to go see the car in person.
Or at least start by asking them to send you a new picture of something not in the listing.
Like ask them to take a picture of the current dashboard/odometer to see that it matches the listing.

Damaged Radiant Red 2.5 Sport (in Virginia?) being offered for sale on Cars.com. Silver forged rims, soft top, Premium black seats. Seller states car has "...upgraded battery pack..." but that "the battery is dead because car has not been driven for past 3 months, sitting in a garage" yet, apparently "...Car was operable despite cosmetic damage until the battery depleted at later time." beware of a black 2010 Roadster Sport being offered for sale. Saw it pop up yesterday on CarGurus - emailed the seller and asked for the VIN as "you must have mistyped the VIN" and low and behold "this car is no longer available". Hmmmm.

^^^ Fairly typical of a scam advert to use the real name of a small used car business. So if you do a web search you find a real address, and picture of a lot with used cars. But not the type of place you would expect to have a Roadster for sale.
And you may find that the phone # in the fake listing doesn't match the actual phone # of the used car lot they claim to be.

So far after some engagement it is looking like #2. I am waiting for the updated pictures but they are willing to take this to a Tesla specialiat that I choose for a pre purchase inspection. Does anyone recommend a specialist in Austin Tx?

I had the opportunity to look at #464 this weekend. It’s a beautiful car and I’m great shape. I didn’t even notice the squeaks and rattles that I’ve come to expect in my own car. The CAC looks a little low, but otherwise it’s a great car. I took about 40 additional picture and pulled the logs if anyone is interested in the car.

CAC looks to be 122. I’d have to check the logs for ideal miles, but I’d assume somewhere around 145 to 155.

European #767 certainly wasn't the last produced...

The real last Roadster:

#767 must have been something like a demo or display car that Tesla held on to for a couple years before finally deciding to sell it as new. I wonder how many miles were already on it when it was first sold.
