Was ready to pull rigger then COVID-19 hits, son needs private school, economy and stock market going down. Beautiful car...I need to see the light at the end of the tunnel before I make a major purchase. VA on lock down until June. :- (
I had a very pleasant correspondence with the owner of Vin 1404. He did confirm "the new battery was a straight replacement of the original, not the R80 upgrade". He also stated he could agree to a price of $80k, but not my suggested price of $75k.
Gosh, this one is nice. Any drawbacks to a Canadian purchase? 2010 Tesla Roadster THE ORIGINAL TESLA ROADSTER! - Burlington
lets hope they learned from the last roadster that sat at Shift unplugged until it was bricked. aside from the price it's looks great. i heard it might cost a bit more and take more effort to get the car registered here in the states.
I think the Canadian Shift Motors listed above is completely (and thankfully) separate from the U.S. “SHIFT” consignment company you’re referring to. It looks like 938’s carbon chin spoiler is thoroughly oxidized, but a beautiful car otherwise. I would check if it’s still available, as I recall seeing this one posted awhile back in the Orphan thread.
Evaluating the potential purchase of a 2010 2.0 Base with 25k miles. Attached are the screen shots I received. The roadster has been essentially sitting, charging in standard mode since December 2019. I have read a CAC of 150 would be ideal for a buyer, indicating the battery was both well managed and maintained. What does a CAC of 140 indicate? Does the battery and BMS need to be serviced?
i bought mine with CAC at barely over 140; and gets 169-174 miles at standard charge. ask the seller what the standard charge yields. from what i understand going by the miles in standard charge is better than going by CAC value alone.
Your seller seems to know what he is doing, as the screen shots show the vital metrics, and IDEAL range mode is correct for evaluating battery health. CAC and Ideal range are basically linked. CAC for standard (not 3.0) packs was 160 when new, so 140/160 is about a 12.5% degradation. The balance looks ok (min 86%, max 88%; well within acceptable ranges). The screenshots don't seem taken at the same time, though. To be 100% certain of the history, the best would be to get the vehicle logs (pulled via USB) and have a look at those.
I would say that a CAC of 140 is fantastic for a 2010. There is also a high chance that this number will change once you purchase and begin driving and regularly charging the car in Standard Mode, where it will balance itself. Every Roadster I’ve bought has balanced and averaged its CAC after 1-2 months, but I am also a daily driver and typically have purchased Roadsters that were only sparingly driven. Your experience may vary.
Now if you want the REAL original a 1.5, which does have some advantages. I may be willing to part with mine, with a 3.0 battery and at a better price. Dropbox - 2008_Roadster - Simplify your life And no problems with importing. Just $69,500

for awhile, i was paying attention to the house more than the car. man for 75K that's reasonable. wonder what the miles in standard range gets? and CAC?
cac shows 140.44 yea I was focusing on the house too wowsers! keep scrolling through the pics here you will see the cac. I'd sell the house before the car and keep the car.
