I have a dumb question. I read online tesla offers roadster upgrade. Does that mean it is possible to upgrade my 2.0 base to 2.5 sport? Or the 3.0 battery upgrade includes everything?
Possible to upgrade? Yes, but not thru Tesla. 2.0 to 2.5 includes MANY different things including bumpers, dash, seats, etc... Base to sport includes software and PEM (and possibly motor, depending on whether you were lucky and got a sport motor in your base or not). None of the above are upgraded via the 3.0 battery upgrade. If you want a 2.5 sport you are better off selling the 2.0 base and buying one.
Or it's referring to you "upgrading" to a Model S/X/3/Y, by trading in your Roadster. In exchange for some trade-in value on your car, they will take it and strip it for parts. Not an upgrade in my opinion, from any perspective.
referring to roadster 2.5. I read somewhere Tesla offers upgrade after purchase... i guess it is not practical then. how do i check i have a sport motor or not?
^^^Welcome to Roadster ownership It’s far from prefect. It’s a car that’s hard to live with but even harder to live without. Enjoy your ride!

Given the limited supply, I think this is just the beginning. As we all know, besides being fun, the Roadster is one of the most important sports car ever built. So many unique and one off details. Just think about it, a gated shifter in a single gear electric car...
there were upgrades you could do at a Tesla service center (double din, front bumper), but that was years ago and no longer offered unless they find some parts lying in a corner . . . or maybe they'll sell you parts from their Roadster buy-back?
For USA users, Open Vehicles recommends Medlock and Sons. They'll provide delivery, support and service all within USA.
I believe it is possible for others to build OVMS from the open source designs, but I have not heard of that happening. It's not a simple board with all the SMDs. But having vendors with stock in the US and Europe simplifies delivery and reduces delay compared to buying from FastTech in China.
