Insurance companies will base payment with comparables--using roadsters currently for sale with similar options, year, trim, etc. Judging by Autotrader, Carguru...base roadster should be worth around mid 50s to 60s. Sport version or R80 should be much higher.

Meaning car gets totaled, unless carrying additional insurance, 47K is all most insurance companies going to pay.

Could not be further from the truth. Does your home insurance pay assessed value if your house burns down?
If it does, you should get a different insurance. For rare/unusual cars, the market determines the value. A professional appraiser, along with your purchase contract will go a long way. Sometimes they'll accept an average based on prior recent sales.

Thanks for the kind words on the paint/conversion to 2.25.

Here is a link to a set of photos I took after washing #972 today. It standard charges to 150 miles or so. Eric at Tesla Loyalty/Roadster has been a 10/10 on responsiveness and says that normally offers are made within a few business days of getting into the queue.

Bunak I told him to contact you regarding the Yellow bomb (no insult intended either). In my mind a yellow paint ball exploded on the car hence Yellow bomb.

USAA does :- P but understand where you are coming from. The black book is the dealer appraisal book which is why I provided the Vin # to the county. Please don't shoot the messenger. However that 47K was the price for a Roadster Sport 2.5, they didn't have Roadster 3.0 listed.

I thought so. I was very interested in the car...actually flew to look at it and test drove it. Never got to meet previous owner...only his "assistants". It seemed sketchy so I chickened out and ultimately decided to buy locally instead. Glad to see it found and owner and that it's being enjoyed!

LOL, thanks! The owner was just a busy professional that had very good helpers. They were easy to work with and they followed thru on everything with the transaction.
This roadster is great! I was not looking for a yellow but it’s growing on me. I wanted the R80 updates - regardless of the battery degradation fear that some buyers have.
