My Mercedes SL550 had no front plate. My Jag has no front plate. My Model X has no front plate. Never got pulled over for it. I guess the cops in Orange County have better things to do.

it looks good. i'm afraid someone backs into me somewhere and the plastic (?) grates its screwed to break. if that happens, the license plate falls off, no?
That's been my fear as well. However, if someone backs into you hard enough with a regular screw mounting, the bumper will likely crack too, so I'm not sure it's much different.
Just mounted my Torklift front plate holder and I feel like I'm getting significantly more wind noise. Anyone else?
I'm installing mine tomorrow and can let you know. It would seem strange to me that it would cause wind noise, since the driver is so far from the source. I would suspect that it's a coincidence, and your real problem is the seal around the small triangle window on driver/passenger door (as noted by many other owners).
I am guessing you are right, but I'm also on Oregon highways with lots of tire noise, so sometimes it's hard to tell.
