Tow hitch bike rack and self driving

Curious for those using a bike rack with the tow hitch, do you put the Y into trailer mode (specifically when bikes are loaded)?

First time using it with my 1Up today with bikes loaded. While driving the rear sensors goes nuts on the screen display, so I tried switching on trailer mode. That addressed the sensor warnings; however, trailer mode disables self driving. I was wondering if not using trailer mode and with bikes loaded, will self driving function properly with the rear camera view blocked by the bikes and the rear sensors constantly thinking there's an object in close proximity?

At least on the Model 3, Autopilot will engage without issue even though the “rear parking sensors blocked” error is showing. Perhaps this will change in a future software versions (I hope not), but it has been true since the beginning.

Autopilot works fine on Model Y with bikes loaded, but turn off the park assist chimes to make the rear sensors quiet down. Trailer mode is not required.
