Thanks for the info to us cyclists. I was wondering have you tried removing the front wheel and standing the bike up vertically? I typically use a fork holder mounted to a length of 1x8 and can fit a couple of bikes in the rear of our Honda Element. Will be ordering my MY soon so I dont have a ‘test’ vehicle. thx
Flat blade screwdriver in the slot at the top middle of the removable panel, then work left and right to pop it out.
Whole area is very flimsy so care needed putting it back.

Top edge, right half, of the cover is the target area to start applying pressure with screwdriver or similar item. There is another thread that had someone provide 3D printer info and ordering info for a tool that works pretty well. Not difficult to get on/off once you know where to start...
