So. Cal.
Hello,

I have 2 TPMS sensors that are dead and according to Tesla service the other 2 are ready to die. I know I have the older system and Tesla is trying to sell me the upgraded system for about $1100, I plan on keeping the car for another year (2013 MS P85) so not looking to spend that much now, they also offered to replace the sensors with newer older model for around $500.

I have found these online:

I have read that I would need the Autel programmer to fully install them.

Has anyone used these before?
Anyone around the SoCal IE (Fontana) have the Autel progarmmer or know of a shop that can do it for me?

I have also found these by cross refrencing the Tesla part # (1034602-00-C) Does anyone have any experience with these? They do say plug n play.

Looks like there some Max Gen 2 sensors, has anyone used these:

MAX GEN 2 — Max Sensors

I called them directly and they're saying these are compatible with the older system, they recommended a shop out here in Fontana. I called the shop and they quoted me $240 out the door for 4 new Max Gen 2 sensors.

The great OC
I have experience with the Autel dual frequency programmable TPMS, they didn't work on my 2012 S. I ended up purchasing TPMS sensors from Tire Rack: https://www.tirerack.com/tpms/resul...utoModel=Model+S&autoYear=2012&autoModClar=85 that are the Baolong equivalent of the TPMS sensors that came with your S. $67.00 each

For background, I spoke with Autel and they told me they have had success with these sensors on Tesla S of my vintage. I also spoke to Tesla and their proprietary Baolong TPMS reader did not detect the Autel TPMS, so proof the Autel TPMS will not work. I suspect it has to do with the dual frequency design, just a hunch. They also quoted $1,100+ for the Continental replacement TPMS system.

Did you get them installed? We have the sensors. In addition you will need to retrieve the id for the sensors your car expects. Let us know if you need help. We are not to far from you.

A little more back story. The baolong system did auto detect new sensor id in some past versions of MCU firmware. However the auto detect functionality is broken again and does not seem to be a priority for Tesla to fix. It’s not really a autel incompatible issue. It’s a Tesla firmware issue. Any after market sensor can be used if it can clone the original sensor id. Which the autel can. But that needs to be captured before the original sensor dies or pulled from the ecu.

Hi @bakerboy ,

DO NOT BUY a sensor that is 315 MHz or 433 MHz, there is evidence that they
do not work in Tesla.
You want a sensor that is 433 MHz only...
A programmable sensor that I have had good luck with is an Alligator 590883.
They are currently available at Amazon for about $23 each...
They will need to be programmed. They are a direct substitute for Baolong.
I have made 3 or 4 sets of them for Roadster people...

TonyT at EV-Fixme will take care of you...

Whatever you do, do NOT buy a dual frequency 315-433 MHz sensor.

Good luck,

Shawn
