I received an email from my DS before I got the VIN, probably about 2 weeks after confirmation.
I been corresponding on occasion with a Tesla employee (initials KB) since confirming , whose title has change from Service Specialist to Model S Specialist over the last 4 months. Is that the DS? I thought the DS was local to my Service Center.
My delivery date for VIN 816XX just flipped from late May to May. Sweet! I confirmed my order on 3/18. They must be doing a heck of a job pushing backlogged orders out for end of quarter shipments. My order specialist (Cleveland doesn't yet have a delivery specialist) just told me she is stupid busy getting new deliveries out the door.
I've also been working with a "Model S Specialist" with initials KB. The local guy I have been working with has "Delivery Experience" in his email and is who I would consider the DS.
Thanks for the info. I last heard from KB last week. I haven't heard from anyone local yet. I briefly met a few of the service guys at the event at Sports Authority Field last weekend.

I'm with ethanr75. Delivery is SO exciting.
On mine...production completed last week, and was put on a truck on Friday.
I'm scheduled to pick up car tomorrow and drove to pickup location today (so I could get the lay of the land).
I pulled up at the same time as the truck with my car on it!
I'm such a geek...I took a picture of it on the truck.
Cheesy I know...but that's the sign of Tesla excitement!

What sweet words showed up on my My Tesla dashboard this morning! - "The Factory is building your Model S"! Still shows Late April delivery.
Ordered 8-Jan, Confirmed 9-Jan, VIN # assigned 77837 on 16-Feb, Production started 24-Mar

Can't wait til I see those words. Congrats! No way thats a late April delivery. Mine just updated to Late April and I confirmed a full two months after you.
Some info on the timeframes at this end, which I think is helpful for the "waiting"...
-S85D - order confirmed 17 Dec 2014, est delivery Late March '15...VIN 740xx
-March 15 - status changed from "production queue" to "being build" (was in touch with delivery specialist since then)
-During this build phase (Mar 18) I was notified in an email that the VIN number had changed from 740xx to 808xx !!). nb: No change in delivery time, was said.
-March 19 - build complete
-March 21 - in transit
-March 23 - arrived and being prepared for pickup.
-March 24 - pickup (planned)
-S85D - order confirmed 17 Dec 2014, est delivery Late March '15...VIN 740xx

And these are exactly the cars and deliveries that make us feel pi... off here on the other side of the pond. Ordering about 2 months later, getting it 2 earlier, while we even pay more as the exchange rates went good for Tesla.
