@Gr8pursuit, you'll be six weeks ahead of me even though our cars will likely exit the factory at the same time. My DS said mid March before mine will be in MN (yep, nearly a month transit time) but my travel schedule in March means probably April before I'll be able to get it. Kind of disappointing after we'd been told late Feb (and late Feb still shows on dashboard).

Sorry to here that, hopefully your DS is wrong about the timing, seems kinda long for transit time.

I thought to too, but if they're switching over to rail that could explain it. They'll need more cars going to a single destination to fill an auto rack and rail does take a couple of days longer as they build and break combines. Even so it seems like a long transit time.

Looks like quite a few of us entered production on Feb 9th including myself. I didn't get any e-mail that it's "In Paint". Did it display on your dashboard also?

No dashboard changes. I got another email this morning, letting me know it is "in general assembly" and that means it is "about halfway done".

These emails are coming from an individual who's signature indicates she is a "Model S Orientation Specialist".

The dashboard never gives this level of detail. I'm assuming that a "Model S Orientation Specialist" is a new fancy name for a Delivery Specialist. Either way she's really keeping you in the loop. Normally its difficult to get his detail even if you're phoning them up and asking. Maybe she's new and hasn't learned to hold back information yet :)

I'd guess that an Orientation Specialist is an assistant that helps the DS. When we took delivery in September. DS quickly did paperwork with us and then handed us off to someone else that did the demonstration of the car.

This is probably at least a partial solution to the problem of not having enough employees during times like the last month of the quarter. I'd guess these people are mostly hired on low hourly wages, given a script to learn the car and then they call be used to do more deliveries at the same time than there are DSes.

For example there are only two DSes in Seattle. From my recollection they were probably doing 4 deliveries at the same time as they were doing mine. So hiring 2 "Orientation Specialists" doubles their ability to deliver cars.

Some of these people are probably going to move up and be used more. We've grumbled about poor communication. My guess would be someone decided to get the "Orientation Specialist" to help with this.

At least your getting updates. When I call my DS Department, I was told I wasn't assigned to any particular DS but anyone would be able to help me and usually only get general answers nothing specific. When I asked when can I expect delivery, I was told end of February but it could be earlier and it could be later. Might as well say it will be ready when it's ready and we will call you the day before, LOL!

like a lot of others my P85D went into production February 9. Well, today I received a call from my DS to schedule an appointment for pick up...Monday Feb 16. Factory tour starts at 3:00pm and pick up the car afterwards.

Big Congrats!! Wow, 1 week from enter production to pickup, that's great. I was thinking about doing a factory pickup also to get it a few days early but didn't want to risk getting any rock chips on the way back before I get a front wrap on it. My DES told me today that my car had finished assembly and is in the process of being checked for any issues, so hopefully it's on a truck heading south by the time you pick up yours on Monday. Anyone else get an update that started production on 02/09??

My delivery is supposed to be week of March 9th and I had the same thoughts about such a long drive before getting the wrap, do you know where you are going for the wrap?

In my invoice is delivery date
