Tracking the car from the Tesla app not updating car position when driving?

Hey all,

Just wondering if this is a bug with the app or if you need Premium Connectivity for this to work. My wife will often check how I'm doing in traffic etc when I'm on the way home, and as of recently the icon for the car won't move along the map like it used to - it's just stuck in one place, in the Tesla app. So to see where I am, she has to force close the app and reopen it for a "snapshot" of where I was. Now, since the pandemic we've been driving very little so I haven't renewed my Premium Connectivity, so I don't know if this is a side-effect of that, but has anyone had this issue, too?

Are you using TeslaMate by any chance? Any one of these logging apps that hooks in to the streaming API will cause these symptoms.

Doesn't happen with TeslaFi IIRC because they don't use the streaming API.

Well you can disable the streaming API and go back to the old poller. Should be a single switch in the settings.

You could always just tell her to check in on you on the teslamate UI. I've never watched it while driving but it is a websocket so I'm assuming it's live.

Been trying to find how to do that and can’t seem to figure it out. Is there a live tracking function in TeslaMate?
