I picked up my Model 3 yesterday, and it came with one lightning cable for iPhones and another cable for android phones. If a model 3 owner in Orange County would like to swap their lightning cable for my android cable, please drop me a note. Thx

Shouldn't Tesla give you two cables of whatever you want? Would guess that most households aren't bi mobile OS.

When I asked at delivery last Thursday in Marina del Rey, they told me they do not have extra cables to swap out. I later found out you can buy them on their site at Model 3 Phone Charging Cable.
I saw the recommendation to see if anyone else is picking up their M3 when you get yours and ask if anyone wants to trade. I will plan to do this.
And yes, most households aren’t bi-mobile OS and it makes little sense for Tesla to just default to one each. They should at least ask. Though from other threads, it seems even the ones they give you may not work with most cases, so I’ll be looking for a means to install a Qi charger of some sort, even if it needs to be glass-mounted.

I asked during delivery and they said they didn't have any extras to swap out, and to try asking service. Service said the same thing LOL. I looked into a QI wireless charger, but unless you embed the charger in the rubber mat or below it, your phone will slide down through the gap between the phone dock and the center console cover. I just bought a second iPhone cable from the Tesla shop for $14.

I asked to swap, nope - ordered one from the store. I'll possibly have a usb cable leftover soon (iPhone household) - in the San Jose area...

What's special about these cables, just that they are the Right Length™ for the port-to-storage placement? Could I still revert back to using a non-Tesla USB cable for my phone if these Tesla ones went missing/broke?

Agree. Pretty cheesy that they don't have a box of 50 of each style and ask you which 2 types you want need at delivery.

Yep - it's nice they have the option but it should be a pre-delivery question - what kind do you want - so that there's not wasted cables .. but they do then get the $14 from you when you replace 'the wrong one'

The 90 degree plug fits just fine (plug extends slightly more than the Tesla one, though), but the cable just isn't long enough -- about 3.5 inches shorter than the Tesla cable. Their price point is better, though. I've written the company to see if they would make a version for the Tesla community.
