18" All seasons on the Model 3 Performance? That is a Performance, right? Those tires would work best if you're doing mostly city driving and/or inclined to keep it in Chill mode regularly.
The stock 18 tire versus the 20 have a different speed rating and that's not just applicable for speed, but also increased stress on the tires. That makes a difference.
The Michelin MXM4 factory tires are W speed rated, (168mph) and work fine. Keep in mind that these exact tires with the aero rims were available on the P3D- (non 5k "performance upgrade" package) for a time, and that car has the exact same horsepower/torque/top speed as mine.
As I mentioned, I do a lot of miles and the increased efficiency is worth it. If I'm doing something out of spec, definitely let me know, but I'm fairly sure I'm not.
Go to the TireRack website. They have the only good/great tire reviews in existence. Look at the detailed track tests (done with BMW 3-series)Two weeks ago I decided to trade in my 2017 7-speed Corvette Z06 for a 2019 Model 3 Performance with AP and FSD. I absolutely love this car! It is so much faster from a stop then the Chevy ever was. This car hooks under any condition and just goes without any drama. The fact that It could be incredibly fun or extremely relaxing is a huge plus.
Although I'm relatively young at 29, this is my 15th vehicle. Some of those cars include a Mustang 5.0, Camaro Z28 with 500hp, CL63, Audi A4, and a Mitsubishi evo. This is my favorite by far! When I get into one of my trucks at work I keep telling myself that eventually Tesla will come out with a pickup.
This forum has been fantastic and I have been lurking for the last 6 months or so. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.... After noticing a small air leak I went to my tire guy and he showed me that I have a slight bend in one of my rims. I don't even remember hitting a pothole. Normally I would just replace the one but after seeing how many people are having issues I think it would be smarter to upgrade and forget. I would like to stick with the 20" size as the tires are brand new and I like the look. I wouldn't mind going to a wider rear tire as it looks fantastic. Strong and lightweight are two things that are important.

FWIW, they work "fine" for acceleration since not even the P is traction limited.
But you'll knock a good 20-30 feet off your stopping distance switching to stickier high performance summer tires
Up to you if stopping 15-20% shorter is worth using more power though.
If 20-30 feet end up making the difference in an accident, I've probably done something very wrong.
Or you simply live someplace things like deer running in front of cars is common (ASK ME HOW I KNOW)
Also funny you mention this, because the other night I was thinking "It sure would be nice if autopilot had an infrared camera to detect large animals that the headlights haven't yet illuminated for me to see".Or you simply live someplace things like deer running in front of cars is common (ASK ME HOW I KNOW)
Does AP do anything to help in these situations? I've seen some YouTube footage but not really sure if it's legit or notAlso funny you mention this, because the other night I was thinking "It sure would be nice if autopilot had an infrared camera to detect large animals that the headlights haven't yet illuminated for me to see".
I’m sure in certain situations I would miss the top end, but in general, 99.9% of the time, the fun street driving is at 80 or below so it doesn’t matter. I can see it being more of a concern if you frequent high speed tracks with long straightaways but for street driving it’s not usually an issue.Question - do you miss the top end of the corvette?

You MUST be talking about Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists? Only problem is they will need your car for 2-3 days or more to effect the repair.Man that service center parking lot looks like my service center.
I actually bent two of my wheels this past weekend on I-65. I'm taking them to a wheel repair place to see if they can be straightened out. It's about two minutes from the Indy service center.
As far as wider tires in back you might consider rotation. Tesla, I believe, recommends every 6500 miles. You wouldn't be able to do an X rotation. I have read on several forums that Teslas wear faster than other vehicles and I am experiencing that my self after only 13K. So rotation is a priority for me. Congratulations! I recently sold my C7 Z06 A8 and don't miss it at all.
