I'm intrigued by the refreshed Model S, and am seriously considering selling my current 2020 Model S LR (blue with white interior, FSD) so I can order a new one. I thought I'd get some thoughts and advice from this amazing forum to help me in my decision.
Background: I bought my 2020 MS in March of 2020, just as the pandemic was hitting. It was a demo model with 600 miles, and I got a pretty good discount on it at the time (paid $78k). I added FSD shortly after that for $7k, and I did buy the extended warranty during the initial period for $4200. So I have about $85,000 invested at this point.
I did have the car ceramic coated, had the windows tinted, and added a clear bra to the front end. I've been loving the car ever since, and it now has 12k miles. I've had a few minor problems with it that the service center here has been able to resolve (mostly). I had the rattling on full throttle problem, but now have new half-shafts and the problem seems to be gone. I've had an intermittent problem with my driver's seat wiring harness that the service center has tried 3 times to fix. It just cropped up again, and now the service center has agreed to install a brand new driver's seat for me (on order right now), which is very cool!
There's a local dealership here that specializes in buying and selling used Teslas, and the owner just told me he'd be happy to buy my Tesla from me for $77,500. This seems to be a really strong offer (Tesla offered $63k to buy the car from me).
If I buy a new 2022 MS, I'd probably configure it the same as my current one (blue exterior, white interior, standard wheels) at a cost of $83,490 (without FSD) or $93,490 (with FSD). I'm really torn about whether I'd order the FSD again... The only current FSD feature I enjoy is the lane changes via the turn signal. That is obviously not worth $10k to me. But I've been anxiously awaiting the new v11 that is supposed to be a lot better, and I do have a certain amount of FOMO if I sell the car now and the new version of FSD comes out and is amazing!
So what's the consensus on if this would be a smart move or not (I realize only I can decide that, just fishing for other thoughts/opinions)? If I skip FSD, I can have a brand new MS for my car plus around $6k, which seems very attractive to me.
Thanks for your thoughts/opinions on this!
