Transferring license plates and toll tag questions

I plan to trade in my old car and reuse the plates on my Tesla but TxDMV.GOV - License Plates says

"General issue plates may be transferred to passenger vehicles and trucks weighing one ton or less."

So does that mean it's not possible to do this and I have to get new plates?

Similar question but for my toll tag. I have one of the "new" windshield sticker toll tags, but just used scotch tape to adhere it to the windshield and looking at my ntta.org account, it looks like I can reuse the tag by changing the car it's associated with: plate, year, make, model, etc. Anyone do this with their new Tesla?

You can transfer your plates, but you'll have to do it after you get the paperwork and plates from Tesla. Just take them to the County Tax Assessor Collector and they'll do it.

You can move the sticker with NTTA's online portal.
