Transportation Fees - What should they be?

10 days ago, I decided to trade in my Model S for a Model X. It was a rushed decision because I got a call on a Friday saying I had "substantial positive equity" in the car, included Supercharging was ending, and prices were going up by 3% on Monday due to exchange rates.

Despite the phone call announcing the positive equity, they couldn't give me a trade-in value until late on Sunday night. Under the gun, I decided to order an inventory Model X from Montreal. The salesperson estimated shipping costs to Toronto would be $500 and I gave them the go ahead.

I wasn't given any paperwork on that day and I've been asking for the final values of the transaction for over a week. I finally got the Bill Of Sale yesterday and I see they've added $2,000 for "transportation" above the $1.300 for "Destination and Documentation".

That $2,000 seems steep to me, especially because I was told $500 and they were waiting so they could ship 3 cars at once.

Has anyone else ordered a car from another dealership? What did that add to your agreed price?

Edit: I literally just looked at the pre-owned page on TeslaMotors.com and answered my question. Fine print says . "Shipment to your nearest service center may require a transportation fee up to $2,000." So, new question, should I be charged the maximum from Montreal to Toronto?

transportation fees rarely have any correlation to the costs of transporting the vehicle, if I am not mistaken you'll pay the same fee regardless of where you take delivery be it 20 miles from the factory or 2500 miles

You are mistaking "Destination & Documentation Fee" with "Transportation Fee".

I did some research. "Destination Fees" get it from the factory to any dealership. "Transportation Fees" are charged to move it from one dealership to another. So, I actually have to pay both. Yay for me.

I brought it up to my delivery specialist and he agreed the fee was too high. He is working on it.

tesla does not use the dealership model. now if they are charging you to deliver it from another gallery and if it is a new car delivery I would have issues with being charged twice for essentially the same service.
