Tree Gum Removal

Does anyone have suggestions on how to remove the gum from certain trees without damaging your car paint and windshield (looks like acorn trees above the superchargers)?

I use Isopropyl alcohol to remove pine sap. If the sap has dried, you have to soak the spot to get it to soften to make it easier to remove.
