Trip plan: NJ to Bangor, ME

I'm going from Central NJ to Bangor , Maine in a couple of weeks in my 70D. Evtripplanner suggests routing through Milford North, Auburn, Seabrook, and Augusta SCs and I'm good with that, it's an easy trip. If I leave at 0700 I'm there for dinner.

I have the option though of driving part way the night before. What I'd like is to stop at a hotel with/near a HPWC or J1772 so I can start the next morning with a full charge. I've scoured PlugShare and I'm just not finding anything so I figured I'd reach out for ideas.

Ideally I'm looking for something between Hartford, CT and Worcester, MA close to 84 or 90. I don't mind a walk to a hotel if that's a possibility.

Anyone have an ideas?

Thanks,

Ken

Did you check the Destination Chargers page on the Tesla website?

More every day...

Yes, I did. A bit of a gap where I'm looking. I thought about the Promenade Shoppes in South Windsor but I don't see any lodging nearby. The other alternative is to go 95 along the coast and stop at the Mystic Marriott but if that's the only option I'll probably just go the Supercharger route.

Thanks,
Ken

Hartford has a SC, and Worcester area has a SC and they're like ~1h apart. If you're stopping in this range i'd just charge up while the pack is warm at one of those two and then hit a hotel. No reason to mess with plugshare/destination chargers when the SC options are reasonable.

I did a theoretical trip as the OP in evtripplanner.com from Holmdel, NJ to Bangor, ME in my 85D with 19 tires. Then I did the same trip with a 75D with 19 Tires and something very interesting happened:

The driving time was the same, but the charging time was actually 8 minutes LESS on the 75D.

can the physicists amongst us explain what might possibly account for this discrepancy? or the mathematicians?

I still think my 85D is totally badass -- even after 20,000 happy miles.

Was the weather identical?

Is the 75D less weight and gets more "range/kWh"?

BTW: I've been looking at this problem too, I'd probably supercharge at Auburn and stay nearby.

There are destination chargers at the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, CT. You could take I95 to I-395 and it is only a short distance to the hotel from I-395. I stayed there for a car event last summer. The hotel is quite nice and the valets took good care of my car, and it was all charged up each morning. Taking that route might slightly lengthen your trip but it meets your requirement for a full charge while you sleep. (Just don't get diverted into too much gambling!)
