Happy to have found this post. I've been milling around looking for the option to add a picture for weeks. Guess it's time to have opinions on stuff! At least 12 times ;)

maybe we could use this thread to make it to 12 posts. Why in the world would the forum software only allow avatars after 12 posts?!? I understand one or two posts, but 12?!?

    Hi Doug,

Any idea how long new members are limited? I'd like to add an avatar but I can't see to figure out how to do it?

You need a minimum of 12 posts before the option to add an avatar is unlocked.

All I know is I nearly jumped out of my skin when @ohmman's avatar looked at me.

It's not actually 12 posts. There is a time component as well.

So I'm not imagining that?!? A couple times I've sworn it blinked, but then while I'm paying close attention, it doesn't. Freaked me out multiple times this week.

@Cyclone, @ohmman might deny it, but I saw it and was TOTALLY freaked out!

PS--if you just click on his avatar to pull up @ohmman's member info, it definitely blinks at you!

Bizarre. Open the image in a tab on its own. Refresh and... blinky. It is a jpeg, not gif, so how?

probably is a gif renamed to jpg and uploaded. the browser will generally parse gifs even though they're named jpg.
