Trunk (rear) Does not latch fully.

Model S, 85, Tech Package

My wife has had her car for about two weeks and has some areas of dissatisfaction.

One is the rear trunk lid. Pressing the 'close' button on the trunk lid lowers it normally to the first 'latch' but it does not close all the way. It remains open about 1/4 inch. It is then necessary to press down on the lid so it will close tightly on the second latch.

Are we doing something wrong, or is this a service problem?

What is your experience?

Thanks, Eric.

Does it *try* to close all the way and just not click? Could it be that one or both of the rubber stoppers are set too far out and there is too much pressure for the mechanism to close it? The black rubber stoppers are in the two outer corners of the liftgate and can be adjusted by simply rotating them like a screw in our out. One of mine was waaaay too far in (not out) and this made the back hatch oscillate when driving. Took me about 5 minutes to adjust it correctly. Best to have the service center look at it regardless, just a thought.
