How much taxable income would one need to get the full rebate?
WAY too many variables to give one specific number. But, single, no kids, no nothing else one would have to make about 65K in w-2 income to have 7500$ in income taxes. Gross income number would go higher in order to compensate for dependents, marriage, deductions above the new 12K standard, etc.

It’s doing... about as well as the rest of the market? Closing red is, of course, always possible, but right now it’s just following the market.

Yeah, pretty much the same as yesterday - with the occasional extra sell order added to ensure it doesn't go anywhere it shouldn't.

To give some perspective, the median household income in 2017 was ~$61k. I don't feel like pulling up demographics, but a good number of households are joint with dependents which is just going to widen the gap.

IMO the impact of the EV tax deduction is over rated.

Median household income is great, but you have to factor in who is buying EV's and it's not the average household. Tesla has reported some numbers in the past and I think that their average HHI was over 200K.

Last year Americans purchased 17.1M new cars.

And 42.7M used cars.

I would venture to guess that there is a high correlation with income/wealth and buying a new car vs a used car.

Looks like the bankers have no morals... they're sticking with the murderer.
Not sure why life of one journalist is more important than 100s of thousands of Yemanis or a million Iraqis.

Coming back to Tesla & MBS, one thing that is abundantly clear is MBS is reckless. He is making a lot of enemies within and outside KSA. Saudis used to do things much more silently and behind the scenes. Not so with MBS.

If you make enough to afford a Tesla, you should have enough taxes to get the full rebate. Unless you are really good at avoiding taxes.
Many retired folks have low incomes but plenty of cash saved. We're seeing people in their 80s buying brand new Teslas.

That said, as others have stated, many such people may have the ability to do a Roth conversion or time the realization of capital gains, thus still enabling them to take the full federal tax credit.

It's also worth repeating that Tesla is drawing in buyers who were previously buying mass-market, relatively affordable cars like the Civic or Camry. People are sacrificing to get Teslas. Although stretching to buy a new car is rarely optimal from the standpoint of personal finance, I'm glad to see so many people supporting the transition to sustainable transportation.

Tesla faded a lot and it's up significantly less than QQQ/COMPQ. Still doing much better than the automakers.

The market is not looking good in general however, $IWM turning red AGAIN, XLF red too. VIX creeping up...

It's going to be fun riding the TSLA wave when the market comes to realize that GF3 isn't just some fantasy. I think seeing the construction cranes will be a real wakeup call.
