Today I got a weird private message from a one day old account @Niedermeyer who claims to be "Ed Niedermeyer, reporter for Automotive News", requesting that I identify myself to him to prove whether I'm Elon or not. :D

Just to state the obvious: I'm not Elon, nor a Tesla insider or employee, nor am I affiliated with Tesla or with any of Elon's companies directly or indirectly, in any shape or form. I'm not a public figure, I'm a Tesla and SpaceX fan living in Europe, as my "location" tag and the time stamps of my comments already reveal. I'm somewhat obsessed with checking facts, as my user name suggests, and I love speculating about Tesla with other Tesla supporters here on TMC.

(I also hope that no Tesla insider is posting and speculating on TMC - it would probably be highly inappropriate on several levels.)

That my joke about the "Shortseller Enrichment Committee" found its way to Elon via Twitter was funny - I wish some of my other, more serious comments and suggestions about Tesla found their way to Elon as well. o_O

On a related note, congratulations to Tesla, Elon and Tesla supporters for the outstanding execution of the Model 3 ramp-up that helped generate 1.4 billion dollars of cash in the last quarter, $881m of which was free cash flow.

This quarter should put to rest the various concerns Ed Niedermeyer expressed about Tesla's business model in the past: generating ~20% of cash from revenue is about twice that of Amazon's cash generation rate - and Tesla might soon join Amazon and Apple as another U.S. company reaching a trillion dollar valuation.

Just loving reading, enjoying, your posts. THANK YOU!

It may shock you to know that most people just want reliable and comfortable transportation. The shop keeper in Kazakhstan is saving for the day when she can afford to dive to work instead of taking the bus. She is not going to be waiting in a queue to buy a Tesla.

So we are talking about Kazakhstan shopkeepers now?

I do agree that probably “most” people in the entire world want reliable and cheap transportation .... since there are about 7 billion people in the world and the vast majority are at a lower income level. But Tesla and other higher end cars are targeting the middle to upper income brackets. Not sure what your point has to do with Tesla’s, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus target market.

Some dates to watch:

This is the November/December US congressional calendar. Congress is in session right now and will continue to be until 13 November. Yellow is when a full congress is in session; blue is senate-only.

Obviously most people are concerned about the macro effects of election day results, so no need to rehash peoples' theories. The big question is, when might a bill to reformulate the EV tax credit go under consideration, if it were to happen? Technically it could be as early as the 13th, but that seems highly improbable that we'd see anything in that first week. On the other hand, if they want to leave the effects of the credit uninterrupted, they'd need to finish it in December - through reconciliation in the House by the 13th and the Senate by the 14th.

Such a bill making news (news = any indication that it might pass soon) could be a significant TSLA mover. Obviously a renewal would be a big boost. The effects of eliminating the credit aren't as clear; that would improve Tesla's competitiveness, but decrease the addressable market size. Wall Street would probably interpret it as an overall negative.

Congrats but I still remember being on this board when tsla first hit 50. Some were bragging about selling then. Wish I could know what they think now
Oh, that was me. All shares sold at 50 with ~100% gain. It was during run up to earnings AFAIR. Took some courage to buy back at 100 and continue the ride. What I think now? Don't get too excited. Don't day trade. Just wait.

I am thinking about we should write to our senators and congressman to advocate for Senator Dean Heller's bill.

Anybody care to post a draft letter? Personally I can do this but I am sure it is a breeze for a lot of people here with more in-depth knowledge and insight.
