Yesterday it was announced a new partner will convert the original JFK terminal into a boutique hotel. Travellers of a certain age have glorious memories of this inspiring building. Before the renovation begins, here are 98 photos of the terminal: Explore the TWA Terminal, a Pristine Time Capsule From 1962 - Love Letters
BoerumHill, Thanks for posting this information and the link to the photos of TWA's JFK Terminal. I was a TWA pilot for 22 years and have fond memories of the terminal. In the evenings as the international flights prepared to depart for Europe, the place was a beehive of activity. I could look out the windows at the Boeing 747s, Lockheed L-1011s, and B-767s and dream of days when I would have the seniority to command any of those planes. The world changed before then, but the memories endure.
I do miss the days of TWA. Loved that terminal and loved the TWA service. What I won't miss: during the rare times I was returning from one coast but going to the other, I typically connected through the hub in St. Louis (normally my home airport). It always seemed that the San Jose flight would land at C38 or something and my departure gate would be D44 or something. That's quite a walk.
