Recently added a MYP to the garage next to my wife's MS. We share a charger. Both cars are programmed to stay unlocked at home. When I press the charger button, the ports open on both cars. Not a big deal, but wondering if it can be avoided.

Nope. They all use the same signal. This allows you to use the button at any location to open your charge port door without pairing it to the Supercharger, destination charger, etc.
We currently have four Teslas in the garage and usually they all open when pushing the button if they aren't already plugged in.

They don't?? After charging, I never close the charge port. I get in, put it in gear and drive off, and looking into the rear mirror, it's closed. So, I would guess it does. My S and Milli's 3 both auto close the port after use.
