Birch coming on rather well. This was this afternoon and, whilst it looks very similar to Quavey's post above, there's some good progress on the construction of it. No Tesla elements there yet. One of the onsite construction guys said it was 8 Tesla and 8 Gridserve but we'll stick with the plans shared previously as this is just hearsay from someone driving a dumper truck.

Way too long a space to only be 8+8 bays, so I firmly believe we will see exactly what was in the plans.

GRIDSERVE Norwich progress:

I was in the Norwich area today so thought I'd pop by the new Gridserve to see how progress is coming along. Pretty well by all accounts, the Supercharger area is already clearly visible:

Can't claim first Charge, but can claim first Plug-In at Winchester SuC
Total of 12 Bays (that I could see), reverse in style along the north side of the Tesla Showroom.

Currently all Tombstones are offline and alot of construction equipment still on site. Can't imagine it's much longer, still needing lane marking, bump stop, etc.

Reading Service Centre SuC update: delays due to needing a relocation of the bays from where originally planned. This likely means that they won’t be close to the planned coffee lounge, so that may be abandoned. Seems like they may now be placed at the opposite end of the site.

Spoke to the sales team a few days ago about the switch-on date and they said early next year. Currently there's no power unit installed on-site to feed power from the grid to the stalls and this is quite a big job, hence the timeline.

Thurrock SuC: looks like UK Power Networks are laying 1.1km of cable. Depending on which website you look at that could take anywhere between 17 December (temporary traffic lights on one section of the arterial road) and more likely something like 10 February (lane speed restriction).

I had a quick look at the progress for the Trafford Centre.

They have started putting in the Supercharger bases. There looks to be 12 installed plus earthworks for possibly another 6.

They are all at the back of the car park furthest away from the old Debenhams. The digging near the garage looks to be cable laying, possibly to get power for the site. I haven’t taken a picture, but there is a large hole with cables in it close to the Trafford Centre and not connected yet.

There’s also Tesla branded kit in storage along with a couple of Supercharger bases.

Popped in here to add a quick update on The Trafford Centre and Stuart1714 beat me to it! I too accidentally (cough) turned into the car park and accidentally (cough) took some pictures! The more info the better I suppose.

Such a great strategic location for Tesla travels this one and the number of chargers is reassuring. Looking forward to it being operational!

Like quite a few SC locations in shopping areas, I do have some reservations about the location when it comes to Christmas shopping in November & December when the area becomes almost gridlocked.

A few months ago I had pick up my dad’s car from that same location when he had a medical issue and couldn’t drive home. I found that the car parks are closed at night so I wonder if these will be accessible 24 x 7.

Looks like they have re-jigged the layout slightly compared with the proposals in the site plan submitted for Tesla's showroom/delivery hub planning application. What I assume are the 5x "proposed Tesla equipment" bases are now next to the transformer and DNO enclosure, and all appear to be taking up some space originally marked out for charging bays. It still looks likely that 18 stalls are going in based on @Stuart1714 's observations (12 + ?6 foundations) plus the fact that 18 stalls would need 5 charger cabinets.

Good spot! I don't think the site was reconfigured while under construction and I also stopped overnight there just before the chargers went live - and at that time I didn't notice any spare kit in the main car park. So I'd guess these are new, especially if still in wrappers.
I was there earlier this week, now I wish I'd wandered around the back while the car was topping up!

Popped by on way from work. Can confirm. I’ve never seen them prior. Directly opposite the current bays

Edit: spoke to manager. Said no plans for new bays that they were aware of, but was talk of some sort of upgrade. So maybe going to be V3 now
