Trouble is they also need some specific kit (£400-500) and a training course. My usual trusted sparky simply doesn't do the work, unfortunately. Shame as he'd be a lot more flexible and likely cheaper..Dont bother with "EV charging specialists" as most will be registered for sucking up grants and are too busy at the moment. Look at places like checkatrade for decent electricians in your area.
Did they do the solar and battery as well as the charger? What was the approximate cost?I have a tethered zappi that is hooked to solar and battery. I got them all done from Stratford energy solutions and can recommend them highly.
I suggest you and anyone else with one of these go into the app and check what your schedule times are if you ave them setup for any cheap rate. These get messed up every time the clocks change!Had my Wallbox fitted today by my electrician, very neat but as he had put the cable in 12 months ago when we extended it was fairly simple. I would recommend Brodie Electrical Services if you are in the East Cambridgeshire area and not applying through the grant...which everyone will be after end of March.
£480 for the wallbox - £50-60 for the install.

I problem I have yet to look forward to (June delivery).Good shout @Js1977 .
Just had a look at mine and the schedule had shifted to 02.00 - 05.00. As you say, clearly up the creek as it was 00.30 - 04.30
Yep. Do check it every time the time changes. Its been like this since ive had it (October 2020). I should really have reported this earlier but thought it would be sorted by now since they are quite good at updating the app and charger. Its been faultless except for this hence as it stands not really the smartest chargerGood shout @Js1977 .

I was under the impression that I had to use a Tesla approved electrician. I have a quote for £697 ( right in the middle of your two quotes) based on completing their survey questionnaire. I have read negatives about the Tesla charger but if we are tesla end to end there can be no finger pointing if problems arise. Of course there is always " maybe you are using the wrong type of elastic trickery ( electricity).Get two quotes from local qualified electricians to install a Tesla gen 3 charger. (Already bought the charger myself)
First one was £840
Second one was £440
Needless to say shop around before agreeing to a price
Tbh I thought the same but was advised in here to speak with my local electricians about installation.I was under the impression that I had to use a Tesla approved electrician. Includes the PEN fault unit and installationOut of interest, did you buy a pen fault protection unit yourself, or did both quotes include adding and installing this? I would rather have the Tesla charger, but the pen fault part is putting me off.
Here is my take... these "chargers" should not be installed unless they comply with the latest reg's.... If so, the manufacturer should supply the extras that are required to comply if needed. Other than that, it would be just another appliance like a dishwasher or a washing machine... Did you get a hotpoint, bosh or whatever approved technician to fit yours?? (diyer's don't count here).I was under the impression that I had to use a Tesla approved electrician. I will check that when I call the Mr Charger to discuss the quotation.Out of interest, did you buy a pen fault protection unit yourself, or did both quotes include adding and installing this? I would rather have the Tesla charger, but the pen fault part is putting me off.
Point well taken: The Tesla charger does not comply with UK regs and therefore need to have a tenfold fault protection unit fitted with it. Thank you. Here is my take... these "chargers" should not be installed unless they comply with the latest reg's.... Regardless of the above, make sure your quote is itemised as to include parts and labour for a fair comparison and bear in mind that everyones installation might differ for comparison on here... walking a mile up hill is not the same as walking a mile down hill....
The PEN fault protection isn't specific to the Tesla charger, it's one solution to the problem of combined protective earth and neutral faults which can occur with protective multiple earthing (TN-C-S) installs, common in the UK. A few EV chargers have PEN fault protection (e.g. Hypervolt, Zappi v2, Sync EV). Most do not. For my install I needed an additional consumer unit, so for me it made sense to get one with PEN fault protection.I would rather have the Tesla charger, but the pen fault part is putting me off.
