UK ranked most energy efficient of world's largest economies | Environment | guardian.co.uk

We came in ninth. Behind China. Didn't we invent the concept of energy efficiency? Remember those stickers on light switches back in the 70s saying "Please turn off when leaving room"?

"The study calculated each country's efforts to reduce energy use in industry, transport, and buildings, the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in developed economies, as well as overall policies."

The most inefficient country has the best starting position for a good ranking as there it is easiest to put in place some policies that might improve matters. That explains the rankings for China and the UK e.g.
