UMC Overheat error

The TMC is reducing the amperage from the maximum 32 amps down to 16 amps for a reason.

Old/worn 14-50 receptacle or loose wire connections. Have an electrician check the 14-50 receptacle for signs of overheating.

Check that wire connections are properly torqued (requires a mini-torque wrench.)

Replace cheaply made builder quality receptacle with an industrial one from Hubbell, Bryant, Cooper or Eaton. Else,

Replace TMC with Tesla Wall Connector (TWC) (note that the TWC must be hardwired); TWC enables charging at 40 amps when used on a 50 amp circuit.

Adding that if you let the TMC hang supported from the 14-50 receptacle by only the power plug adapter you are stressing the receptacle and the plug as neither component is designed to support the weight of the TMC chassis. This can cause the Tesla power plug adapter to pull out of the TMC chassis. Over time the additional weight on the plug assembly can cause the wire connections inside the plug to fail.

Use a mounting bracket such as the one included in the Tesla Cable Organizer kit or similar kits available online. If none of those option are appealing then you can use a cable tie wrap, velcro strap or even a shoe lace to relieve the strain on the TMC power plug adapter.

Thank you, and I plan to do all of those things. However, I still would like to track the amperage during charging. Do any 3rd party apps do that?
TeslaFi does... for example...

How did you get that? I have this.

Click on the number of charges. In your case it’s that number 1 link. That should take you to a detail screen where you can further click on each charge to see the details.

You can also get there from the main screen with your activity for that day. Click on the charge icon for the particular charge.
