UMC updating to 10amps on 2023.26.7

It seems that the 'update' isn't being included with new 3s (or Highlands).
This happened for a while in early 2023 as well.

I'm sure Tesla will eventually get it included.

As I understand the firmware codebase is somewhat modular in design and downloaded on a difference basis, so different models get different parts and the size of the download can depend on the existing version you have.

Do all UMC need to be updated or do some now come with 10/15amps? if they don't all need to be updated how can I tell how many amps it will be charging at without a car?

I pick up my car on Saturday so if it needs to be updated I am hoping I can get the Tesla team to do it during the pick up.

As far as I know, all of them need to be updated. Mine did, which I got with my new Tesla approx 3 weeks ago. You only see the reduced 8A while it is charging, and then when updated, 10A. It updated fine with my car (Model Y), just won't with a Model 3 Highland.

If you have a Highland car, it's worth bringing in with you to Tesla when you pick up your car to get it updated (or they give you another one that is already updated).

Thanks, Yes it is a highland so I will take the UMC with me on Saturday.

I have a tech around right now solving an interior trim issue, I might pick his brain and see what he suggests and/or see if I can coax him into updating with his Model S

Woke up this morning my car charged to 100%
Updated tail to 10 A
Installed latest update yesterday morning
🎉🥳

I’m having the same issue with my brand new Y.
My 15a tail stuck on 12. Tried the leave at charge limit push, no dice as of yet.
Sadly my wifi cuts out right where the Tesla is parked, so I’m having to tether it. Leaving it overnighted with wifi isn’t really an option.

Did you try lower your charge limit to below what it currently is?

Should kick off fairly quickly if you do that. Check this video -

20.9 should definitely work
Ya @Sturty with your car at less than 100% charge, sentry off, scheduled charge off; close all the doors, plug the car in to charge, wait till it starts charging then slide your charge limit on your phone app to below what it currently is.
It should stop charging and if you look thru the window it might display some gobblegook about updating firmware.
Takes a few minuites.

Or just wait till it finishes its next charge over night and it will do it itself.

Yeah, I think his issue there is wifi connectivity, but if he has the hotspot active and follows the checklist in the video, it should kick in fairly quickly.

You can also go into service mode and check the error log and it will tell you if it's having an error updating etc.

Yeah cool. When I changed nbn providers I got an extra couple of wifi mesh nodes to put near the places I park the car. Seems to be doing the trick.
Can you add a wifi mesh/extender @Sturty ? It will have a side benefit of allowing better cat videos in the car.

Yep, that’s exactly the plan. That’s my job for this afternoon, off to Officeworks to bag myself a wifi extender. 🔥
