Underbody Lights and 12v battery issue

Had these installed 3 weeks ago and this weekend the 12v battery started dying. Anyone else have this issue?
Tesla service came out and replaced battery but also disconnected the kit and said nothing should be connected direct to the 12v battery else it will occur again. Said going to cigarette light for power is fine or even better to convert to usb and connect that way...

So I think the Tesla service rep is full of *sugar*. I looked and no Model Y comes with a Positive battery cover(the model 3 does). They just trying to get out of a faulty battery.

So 2nd battery dying and they blaming on underbody lights(any aftermarket hooked up to 12v they said voided battery warranty). So I am out a battery, and now to get the power re-routed to a different spot like cig lighter i guess...

guess that's what you get for installing underbody lights? that or something else is clearly draining the battery ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If the lighting system doesn't go to sleep with the car, it will undoubtedly draw current from the 12v battery. The reason why the tech is telling you to connect to a USB port/cig lighter is because it works in conjunction with the sleep/wake event of the main system that prevents said activity.

Mine is controlled via bluetooth and is always off before i close app etc.

You turn the lights off but the control module must still be drawing power. It has to be for it to be able to receive on/off commands. A direct connection to the battery is not switched power. You need that or it will keep happening.

Problem I have is that they have done many other Tesla's the same way with zero issues.

who did the install? I know older thread I like the underbody lights, Always thought it would be cool to flash your charging status at night while charging, or just cool colors. Cause its a cool car

My guys swapped to cig lighter for free, he has done many others with no issue i know of...
