So I had my chrome delete done and they had to take off my front bumper to access the parts, so I figured I would snap a picture of everything under there incase anyone wanted to see.

I think the box on the left side of the car, right side of the picture, is the radar. What's the other one?

    Thanks Erik

Aren't newer cars also equipped with the ability to emit warning noise if needed? Perhaps that.

I also wonder if they may have both wide- and narrow-aperature radar units...

I don't know what the box on the passenger side of the car is, but was surprised to see that the radar is mounted off center.

It's cool that the forward radar can now see through the bumper so it is now easier to keep that area free of snow and ice than before when there was an indentation in front of the radar that would collect snow and ice and block the radar.

It seems directional in nature, if not they could have placed it behind and out of the way.

The noisemaker in the Nissan Leaf is directional to point forward. There is a backup beep that is different.

It doesn't look like a speaker either.

Those are generally very small, but good theory.

Maybe that new Lidar module that is cheap and can be behind plastic?

I was thinking it could be the potential new noise maker but I would think that it wouldn't be in such a confined space so that you could hear it. Once the bumper is all put back together, there are no air gaps or anything there. So it would have to be pretty loud the get through everything.

I will see if my detailer is taking any more apart and can send me more pictures. It's not the easiest thing to do. So I certainly don't want to do it on my own.

    Thanks Erik

Not good enough. We need it removed and sent to the lab for analysis!

Anyone have a picture of the pre-refresh under the front bumper?

    Thanks Erik

Nah, just getting the part number off of it would probably be good enough. Then you could just call the Tesla parts department and ask about it. :)

When was your Model S delivered? I wonder if this is a new thing since the refresh.

You must have been one of the first refreshes in Colorado. Curious about the mystery box under the bumper and want to see pics of your chrome delete.

You can check out my chrome delete here: Refreshed Pearl White 90D Photos

Could it be the ion cannon that I have been waiting for so that I can vaporize those rude Prius drivers we have all over my area?

Honestly, I have never been cut off more by any one car than a Prius. I wonder if they are jealous of a "true" electric car. They actually get aggressive, which I didn't think was possible in such a car...
