Uniden R4 Radar Detector Install in 2022 MYP

This was a very easy install. Here are some photos of my R4 install in my 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance. I made a power cord using a 6ft telephone cable and an inline-fused 12v cigarette lighter plug. The R4 sits on a Vicseed magbak phone mount attached to the center display screen. The R4 is magnetically attached to the phone mount platform with a metal ring stuck onto the underside of the R4. The power cord is tucked behind the center console trim and routed to the back of the armrest and into the armrest compartment. Since the 12v outlet is switched, power to the R4 is automatically turned on when I get into the Tesla. Routing and tucking in the power cord was a breeze and took about 15 minutes to do. Soldering the 12v plug to the RJ11 wires (green and red) took the most time in the install.

I have similar setup but different mount only thing is the tape fails lol. I had to apply the adhesive to the back now it’s stronger but will see.

I've found that the adhesive on the Vicseed mount and rings to be quite strong and durable especially in the Texas heat.

Doesn't that stay on when things like Sentry are running?

If Sentry mode is on then there will be power to the R4. However, you can manually turn it off. Also, the R4 has a battery saver setting that will turn itself off after a while.

I just installed this exact thing last night per your recommendation for my R3! Loving it on my commute this morning! Such a solid mount.
